911.0. "Sporting Goods distributor in Ontario" by USOPS::AGIN () Tue Apr 11 1995 11:10

Can anyone tell me the name of a fairly large sporting goods
distributor in the Ontario area? I'm trying to locate a friend
who works for a distributor in this area. Any help would be very
much appreciated....name of company, location, phone #, etc.

    Thanks!
    Phyllis

    re-.1 Nice.

re-.2 The big retail chains are Collegiate Sports and National Sports
with several smaller mall chains (Lady Footlocker?). There's a few
new ones. Ontario is big and these stores are spread over a wide area.
You would have to narrow it down a bit.

I'm not sure if are many wholesellers in the market (one is Norco=bikes and
    parts).

Thanks Marshall. I'm afraid I don't have much information to go on but
you've given me a starting point. The last name of the person I am
trying to locate sounds like Crew but it's probably not spelled like
that. Is that a pretty common name in Canada? Could you give me a
spelling of a name that would be close? If so, I might be able to
    track him down another way.

    Thanks again!

The names here are much the same as the US. In a memo a few weeks back
I was called Marshall "Crew", but I never step foot in those expensive
    jock type places.

You might try "Crewe", more of those than "Crew" in the Toronto phone
book. Bear in mind, though there are 3 million people in many, many
phone books just in the Toronto area alone.

911.5A stroke of luck...USOPS::AGINThu Apr 13 1995 11:096
Thanks again. I might have better luck than I had expected. Another
friend from Ontario called Monday night but I was out. Said he would
call back. This friend knows the person I'm trying to reach so
hopefully my search will be alot easier than I had expected. I really
appreciate you answering my requests. Will let you know how I make out
and if I need help again. Have a great day Marshall!

I find it amusing that this basenote is calling out for assistance
and the note number is 9-1-1.

Must be a slow day. Where's that Dave Barry notesfile...

Oh, how observant! It is amusing...glad you pointed that out. I
haven't heard back from my friend yet. It was Tuesday he called, not
Monday, but I'm waiting patiently...for awhile anyway before I continue
    my search.

I'm sure you found something worth reading in the Dave Barry notesfile!
Enjoy those slow days...they don't come often!
