| All museums, theatres, cinemas, restaurants, etc. will be frozen shut!
Disregard that. All of the above will be open during the winter
months. Additionally, your friend will be able to walk on water, or
skate on it (the Rideau Canal, a sluggish branch of the pan-hemispheric
Grand Canal, is the world's longest skating rink when the water gets
stiff).
Lots of skiing (Alpine and cross-country), tobogganing, snow-shoeing,
tongue-to-pipe contests, snow snake hunting, frozen road-apple hockey,
etc.
Enjoy,
Pat

Pat,
Saw my first snow snake of the year yesterday, it was foragging
in my garbage for snow bags. Unfortunatly the damn things make
such a mess when they break open the bags but I hate to kill them,
they have such beautiful colouring.

| Charles, stay away from snow drifts!! That's where they nest.
I read about a kid in Clyde Forks who walked too close to a snow drift.
It was a gruesome sight when they finally retrieved his mutilated body.
He was alive, mind, but still he was a mess. He's now living
anonymously as a snow diviner in Florida.

You cook for them with recipes? Don't they get spoiled?
They'll never go back to Snake Chow after that.

| I've got one!
Place one or more snow snakes into boiling water
Stir for 5 minutes and reduce heat
Place contents into glass bowl
Add 1 package of Jello brand gelatin.
Stir frequently for 2 minutes
Allow contents to cool at room temperature
Refrigerate
Yum Yum!

Sounds tantalizing.
I'm concerned about the humanity of the term "Placing them in to boiling water".
Are they live like lobster when you place them in? Do they change color? Not
yellow I hope.
If one does a roast of snow snake what is the perfered method of thickening
the gravy?

Snakes alive, I don't mean to be venomous, but this note
has quickly slithered off topic....
Vivien, there isn't much comparison between Toronto and Ottawa.
Ottawa is probably the most anally-retentive city in Canada,
particularly from an entertainment perspective. At least in
T.O. they don't roll up the sidewalks at 7:30. I suppose though,
if your visiting your friend, you could always catch a play at
the NAC (yawn), or skate on the Canal (zzzzz), or, lemme see, nope,
thats about it.

Actually, if visiting Ottawa, your friend could visit the exciting
and dynamic town of Carleton Place. It is only 30 minutes from Ottawa
and the activities there are endless. You can see the fights at the
Queens, or watch the babes pump gas at the Canadian tire gas bar,
or visit the cow pattie museum on the outskirts of town...
I forget them all...actually, Ian, you live there, can you
elaborate on any others?
Partied out in box town,

Make sure you screeze the lumps out of the snakes before you attempt to
make gravy from the broth.
Now, does anyone have a recipe for ice worms?
I was out last night on the Mississippi with a flashlight and the ice
was alive with the little devils!!
Also, does anyone know of a safe way to get them out of the ice?

You use trained zebra mussels. Just don't let the little devils off
their little harness. They tend to head for the US.

Try marinating the ice worms in 3 oz of Scotch for 3-5 minutes.
Then enjoy to your hearts content.

You must be new here. In this conference, it's *sanity* that gets only
a "moment of time". To be expected, I suppose, in a conference where
you have to type the national anthem to get in:
