I heard this story on the Global Nightly News two weekends ago. However, since they didn't give a source for the information I just assumed it was another rumour. However.....we are continuing to transition employees - a couple of guys I know in Halifax got it 2 weeks ago.....it's tough to believe anything you hear or read anymore.... terry | |||||

re: .2 "The Globe and Mail", Saturday, May 7, 1994: page B3 Title: "Digital to cut 20,000 jobs in restructuring" Sub-title: "Canadian unit expected to escape axe" "....Digital Canada spokesman Ron Catcheside said the subsidiary, which employs 3,500 people is likely safe from any "significant" job cuts because it has been one of Digital's best-performing units lately." on the same page: Title: "IBM reorganizing sales force" Sub-title: "U.S. executive will exert more power over all marketing staff, analyst says" "...International Business Machine Corp. of Armonk, N.Y. told employees yesterday that it will organize its primary salespeople by industry rather than geography or products.... ...Louis Gerstner, who became chief executive of IBM at the height of its financial trouble 13 months ago, decided against breaking the world's largest computer maker along the lines of its products..." Sounds familiar ? |
