888.1 | Secret sighting | USAT05::KASPER | You'll see it when you believe it. | Fri Oct 14 1988 10:05 | 29 |
| I know the feeling (sort of). This is a true story. A number of years ago
in south Florida, I was driving home from work one night. It was late and
I was driving along an out-of-the way road. Florida is quite flat, you know,
and way up ahead to my left were the faint outline of trees. I noticed
lights behind them. At first I blew it off as just lights, but they seemed
to be moving. They started to attract my attention. I thought that the
movement was an illusion (a result of my moving along) so I slowed down.
The lights kept moving, twinkling behind the trees. It was now clear that
they were, in fact moving - too slow and too low to be an aircraft. I
couldn't figure out what it could be. I began to get an erie feeling.
I stoped my car (not a sign of anyone else around). I turned off the motor
to see if I could hear anything. I couldn't. It was late, I was tired and
hungry, but I decided to go after it (totally opposite direction of
where I was going). I turned the car on and took off, winding through the
country roads making sure to keep this 'thing' in my sight. I knew, what-
ever it was, I was going to see it! Finally, I got close enough to see
more. The colored lights, still flickering through the trees, were moving
along slowely, sometimes they seemed to stop, move up slightly, then down
again. What was it?! As I watched intently, wishing I could some how record
this, it began to move up. Still no sound. As it rose, I could see from
the reflection of the lights that they were attached to a much bigger object!
It's outline wasn't easy to make out in the darkness, but the glow of the
lights against the underside suggested an oval shape. Then I heard a noise!
kind of a rotor sounding noise and it moved up slowly. As I watched almost
in terror, the lights became clearer and I could make them out. It was a
message...spelling T-H-I-S--B-U-D-S--F-O-R--Y-O-U. It was the signboard of
the Goodyear blimp. I went home and didn't tell a soul...

| Ok, so who watched the UFO COVERUP show last Friday. What does everyone
think. If the informants are telling the truth, then we have, and
have had for 30+ years, real live aliens living here on earth.
Over all, I'd say I believed it.
What about you!!!!!!!!

| I thought the show was really poorly produced. I thought it should have been
pre-taped for the most part with a couple of live segments where necessary
(like to tally the calls). People were obviously reading from cue cards.
The show did little to change my beliefs. I think there is other intelligence
to be found in the Universe. I wouldn't be surprised if other intelligence had
visited us here, but I would be surprised if intelligence smart enough to
travel here would allow itself to be held captive in the White House.

Some of the info was quite interesting though.

888.6 | Not too well done | RVAX::SMITH | | Wed Oct 19 1988 14:07 | 15 |
| I agree with both of you. The show was a bit circus like and people
OBVIOUSLY were reading from cards. I too think they could have done
a better job. BUT, all the theatrics aside, I think there was some
very believable information put out. In particular, FALCON and CONDOR.
The thing that gets me about these two, is the fact they have
volunteered to sit down with a senate investigative committee and
spill the beans. If these two guys are phony, why would they want
to do that. One meeting, and that's the end of their reign. Plus
where their faces and voices were altered, they can't get any publicity
from the show itself.
I know this has a lot to do with WANTING to believe, but then again,
nothing I heard from the coverup side of it surprised me either.

888.7 | Very poor show... | RAINBO::R_BROWN | We're from Brone III... | Wed Oct 19 1988 19:37 | 19 |

I, too, saw that show: UFO COVERUP.
While I do believe that there is something to UFOs, I found UFO COVERUP
very difficult to believe. The testimonies were obviously staged, the
"UFO Glasnost" was poorly presented and hard to believe, and the
credibility of the "informants" was, at best, questionable.
It is unfortunate that the show was so sensationalistic and
unbelievable, because I really believe that UFOs should be looked into more
closely than they have been. UFO COVERUP will give people another reason to
ignore UFOs or, at best, not take them seriously.

P. S. : Besides, I agree: any lifeform intelligent enough to come here
surely wouldn't be so easily captured. But then, one would question the
intelligence of an advanced being that would hang around this planet! ;-)

I have two comments to make about the responses to the UFO COVERUP
TV show:
1) Yes, all the interviews were "staged"...i.e. people reading
from que cards, etc. But I have also seen most of the people
interviewed in UFO "documentaries" and they are very sincere.
Also, the "staged" interviews accurately described their
experiences as they, themselves, described it on other
documentaries. The reason why all the interviews were staged
was primarily because it was broadcasted live. By having
non-professional tv people, as the people who have experienced
these "alien"-encounters are, read off que cards that someone wrote
for them about their experiences were for very good reasons,
primarily timing. Since it was broadcasted live and since you are
dealing with people with no or little tv experience, by having
them read off que cards pretty much guarantees that the people
will not take up more time than they are alotted and aides in helping
people deal with stage-fright that could cause the person to
blank-out or babble on and on etc. The director of the show
had to make sure that everything that had to be covered within
the alotted time frame was covered, and the best way to do this
was to have writers sit down with the people, listen to their
story and synopsize it for them. I think that, yes it took
away from the sincerity of the people because most people don't
know how to read off que cards without making it look like they're
reading off que cards, but if I was the director or producer(s)
involved with tele-casting a live show....I'd do it also.
2) The alien allegedly residing with the US government is not
supposedly to be a captive, but is supposedly here on his/her/name-
the-pronoun-of-your-choice free-will choice. The alien, from
what I've heard and read, is part of an "exchange" program. We are
supposedly to have sent some of our people back to Zeti-Reticuli.
I agree with everyone that the music, etc. gave sort of a "tabloid"
feel to it and it could be detrimental to serious UFO investigations.
But.... it also gave a lot of information to people that have not
heard of most of this "stuff". Personally, I feel that the whole
purpose of this program was to try and get people interested enough
so that we could get a congressional hearing. Hopefully, the program
will have a positive effect....

| I also believe it's possible that this whole show was "staged"
to be "used" as a public opinion poll. That's why the open lines
for people to call in. If the majority of the people say they want
a congressional investigation (which they did...87%), then they
(the gov.) could resonably surmise that the people WANT to know,
and maybe it's "time" to release some details.
As to WHY an advanced civilization would WANT to visit THIS planet,
that, in my opinion is very simple. Why do WE spend so much time
studying prehistoric civilizations? Why do WE send teams into the
jungles of the amazon to STUDY ancient tribes?
We may not be perfect, but were sure interesting.

The triangular object that you saw could have been the stealth bomber
that just recently was unvailed to the public. It is my understanding
that during development the stealth flew only at night, and perhaps
you saw a cross country test flight. The stealth is very triagular
in shape and really does look like something other than of this
world to anyone not knowing of its exsistance.
Just a thought tho, who knows for sure what you really saw, I guess
that is why they call them "Unidentified".
