Was this noisy? Did you, or anyone else, hear you impact?

"Out of *bed* experience???" Hahahaha!!!!
John M. - could this possibly be your next VAXnotes header? (;^)
This sounds awfully Freudian to me. Perhaps we should start a topic
on 'In bed experiences....'. Oh, never mind.
(.0 - please don't take offense - this just struck me as funny today.)

I like that, Cindy. "in bed experiences". I don't know
about you but I've had some "close encounters".
Oops....I'm running off at the fingertips.

| I know what you mean; where you wake up and the bed is bouncing.
It can be a return to the body. It can also be, if you're dreaming of falling,
that your body "resumes" weight because it really does experience the shifting
weight of the fall you're dreaming of.
Your title was pretty cute, though.

I can relate!
I have had similar experiances with the falling. I would be
asleep, and feel myself falling and wake up with the bed shaking.
I slept on my back so I never got the "thrill" of seeing myself.
I also seemed to think that the whole bed was floting not just me.
The reason being was that my ending bounce was too small to justify
the distance I fell..so the bed had to fall with me to help absorb
that shock....of course i never thought of the little fact that
the large old bed falling from such a height would wake everyone
in the house. anyway...
I also had muscle "flinches" at that time also which would be
an arm or leg kick or punch out randomly. It was scarey at the time
cause I figured I wasnt doing it so "SOMETHING ELSE" was. conclusion
was of course...I was possessed by the devil or one of his pals.
From there I became interested in the occult ect. but over time realized
that alas I was not an angel from hell but a normal human being.
Not as dramatic but I have learned to except it! :-)
I have linked it to the massive amounts of Vitamins my mother
gave to me,poor diet, stress, various Junior high vices.
I dont have spasms very often now at all however my wife might
add that at times I tend to be a big jerk in bed....
Perhaps the falling was a spasm of the lower back and or legs.
maybe when the electrical energy signal goes down to your legs/back
your very-active-when-sleeping-brain sets up a scenario that will
explain the event that will happen to you in terms you will be
comfortable with or understand. But this would only work if the
brain was faster than the motor reaction and conscious realization
of what you and I were experiancing.
I-dunno!

re: .5 - ah, the voice of reason...but spasms?? My experiences were
very vivid but so were my dreams so you may be on to something.

When you reply, type REPLY/EXTRACT while looking at the note you want to
quote. That note will end up in your edit buffer for your reply.

Out of bed experience... That's pretty good! Maybe you could
give seminars ;')...
I think I had a few of those. I usually woke up in the bathroom
which was a good thing cause if I hadn't it would have been one
of those wetted bed experiences...

825.10 | Nothing unusual from my standpoint | RVAX::SMITH | | Tue Aug 23 1988 16:34 | 14 |
| Sudden muscle/body "jerks" while sleeping is very common. Actually,
it usually happens just as a person is entering sleep. It's caused
by a sudden relaxation of the muscles, a sudden tension release
that causes them to jerk suddenly. Happens to me quite frequently.
If my wife happens to still be awake, she usually bursts out laughing.
Must me quite a site to all of a sudden see a whole body do a massive
twitch.
As for falling, I've had that happen fairly often also. Depending
on what stage of sleep I'm in, I sometimes will find my body actually
reacting to the fall, causing physical movement which usually wakes
me up.
