| If she already was pregnant, it probably would fall outside the area of
precognition. Yes, it might have been a pheromone change, or even some-
thing more subtle. Also, it might have been some form of ESP such as
life detection or a form of dowsing.
You'd have to give more details on the happenings "a number of times
with different things."

| Hey Dave if you get any premonitions about what the "Megabucks" number
will be this wednesday please pass the word.
I have beeen trying to figure out the validity of precognition versus
forcing something to happen because you think it. Precognition may be a form
of psionics in that your thoughts become reality. This would imply your
recognition of the pregnancy wasn't precognition but instead a sensativity to
change.

| Another example of "knowing" is occasionally I will wake up and know
that today I will wind the pool. I have won the pool and not "known"
but I have never "known" I would win and then did not. (I wish this was
a litle more reliable I'd win lots :-)
Sometimes I have "know" when a relative is sick even though they might
live far away. This is especially true of my Father. When he gets sick
2 times out of 5 I know and call them before they call me.
Lasly I've always known that I would be wealthy someday. Still
waiting.... :-)

The second point, knowing whether a relative is ill, clearly ties into
knowing when a girlfriend is pregnant. Again, these seem like telepathy,
life-detection, or modified dowsing rather than precognition (unless you
knew a relative was going to be sick before he or she was).
The pool business might be precognition. however.

| Knowing when somebody is pregnant, or ill, or when two people you see
together happen to be in love is not "precognition" since the event has
already happened. It is a form of perception however that may be the basis of
much of medieval stories of witchcraft, since the person who is pregnant, or
ill, or in love, may be unaware of that fact. When the seer makes a
"prediction", which is in reality only a statement of what to them is
obvious, their reputation is enhanced.
This degree of empathy is I suspect, not particularly rare, though frequently
undeveloped.

| For a year I roomed with a guy who could read minds, know what someone
was doing wherever they were and more. He was a disciple of Yogi
Amrit Desai, and by disciple I mean he practiced discipline.
He practiced formal yoga a minimum of 3 hours a day, for about 6
months 6 to eight hours a day. He said that he coul know w these
things because he knew himself- that we are like books with the same
essential chapters but different experiences filling them. Since he knew his
chapters it was easy to know someone else's. He never did this
intentionally. Sometimes thoughts or feelings were strong and weren't
easily ignored. One memorable instance occurred one morning. I was
sleeping late. Alan was in his room meditating. I had a dream that
I was walking down a mall corridor with a woman toward Alan and
his fiancee. As we met I started to introduce the woman to them,
then I woke up. About ten minutes later Alan knocked on my door
and asked when was I going to bring her home to meet him.

Its one thing to know if your mate is pregnant, but I had an experience
of knowing when my sister was pregnant before she knew, and I was
on the other side of the country from her and had only seen her
on rare visits for several previous years.
In the middle of the night and not connected to any dream, a voice
popped into my head and matter-of-factly said "Rachel is Pregnant".
I mentioned it to my wife the next day and put it out of my mind
until Rachel called a while later and said she just found out she
had been pregnant for ...coincidently the same length of time since
my "message".
The voice didn't come back for her other kids, but it was our standing
inside joke for quite awhile.

| Maybe this would fall into the category of precognition.
Over a year before my daughter was born I had a dream
where I some unseen voice said, "This is your daughter,
Emily." In front of me was a beautiful blonde, blue-
eyed girl of about sixteen wearing a white dress. When
I woke up I thought that couldn't possibly happen because
both my husband and I have dark brown hair and green eyes.
Sure enough almost two years later, Emily was born with
blonde hair and the bluest eyes I've ever seen. When I
was pregnant I had an ultra-sound done and the Doctor
asked me if I wanted to know if it was a boy or a girl.
I told him no, I already knew.

It *certainly* qualifies as "apparent precognition" and generally
that's as definite as anyone can expect to be able to say even if
it were actually precognition. The situation would have to be
quite unusual to be able to rule out coincidence or other
non-paranormal sources of information completely; that is why we
do laboratory experiments.

I hadn't picked names for a baby when I had the dream
because I wasn't pregnant. My husband and I didn't intend
to have children for a long time so it just wasn't something
I'd thought about.
When I found out I was pregnant (over a year after having
the dream), I just _knew_ that this baby was the Emily I'd
dreamt about. I may have been influenced by the dream to name
her Emily but the way I look at it, she named herself. Also,
I did decide on the name before she was born. Her physical
characteristics are the same as I saw in the dream.
(BTW, my husband insisted on picking a boy's name as well,
just in case. I told him it wasn't necessary but we did
anyway.)

| When we were teenagers, my sister made following experience:
She was about 15 when she started an apprenticeship in town
(we lived "in the country" - about 10 miles out of Geneva).
The first year or so she used to go to work by bus, but
connections were wery akward. So after a while she had
saved enough to buy a small motor bike (the kind limited
to 20 mph - they probably don't exist in the U.S.).
So, off she goes to work with her brand new bike. She
parks the bike on the pavement, in front of the office.
(she could not see it from her window), locking it
carefully with the built-in lock.
During work, she thinks of how nice it's to have this
bike, and the freedom it provides her, the tour she
will be able to make over the week end, etc...
In the afternoon, she thought: I hope nobody will
steal my bike - well this can't happen, I locked
it carefully.... BUT WHAT IF SOMEBODY DID PUT A
SECOND LOCK ON MY BIKE ??
She put that thought away, as totally crazy - she
never heard of such a practice before, and could'nt
figure out why somebody would do that.
Sure enough, when she came out of work, and went
to her bike, she found an thick chain around
the bike with a solid lock ! She was lucky to find
a locksmith to cut the chain almost immediately.
That was about 20 years ago. Meanwhile, I found out
that this was probably the beginning of a "smart"
technique where somebody whoud chain your bike,
hoping that you wouldn't be able to find help and
have to leave the bike overnight. Then the robbers
could quietly come back during the night, remove
their lock and brake your lock without being disburbed !

| Reading about "Emily", brings to my mind a dream I have had several
times... The first time was the most unsettling. My dream was
my husband and myself were looking at new homes. The broker and
I were talking and she asked me when my children's birthdate's were.
I started with my oldest, my son... who was not with me in the dream,
then my two girls, and then, I went to tell her the birthdate of
of baby on my lap, I became embarassed and said "I don't know when
he was born" It was really a strange feeling! No matter how much
I tried to remember his birthdate I could not... I couldn't even
remember being pregnant with this child. When I awoke, I realized
I don't have a baby, just three children.
I have had the dream a couple times since, and have realized, the
child is not mine, but very close to me... I keep thinking it
could be a "grandchild"... however, my son is only 21, not married
and I don't think the father of any present children.
Do you think it could be? I have a vivid picture of this child,
and felt tremendous love for him, I just don't know when he
was born!

Last week and most of the week before, I found myself in one

Last Friday, I realized that I was confused about "what time

morning, I was acting as if it were the week of the 22nd.
Now that I understand this, I've slowed down a bit ... sort of
waiting until I catch up with myself. (If none of this makes any
sense to you, read it in a week or two and let me know what you
think.)
I've remembered things that happened in the future all my life,
but this is the first time I've experienced such a seriou time

Or - I'm sure you would have thought of this - but you've never
had an abortion or miscarriage, have you? That would be most obvious.
Then again, your presumption about a grandchild could be correct!
My mother attended the birth of my son and we lived in the same
household for about 8 months from the time Jordan was 8 months old
to 16 months. My mother has become very, very close to Jordan,
and vice-versa. (He is now 20 months old.) Once I asked my mother
if she loved one of her own four children or Jordan more (what a
silly question, but I mean't it honestly, because I felt that she
was displaying more love towards Jordan than I could as his mother
- I was always tired from work, school, etc., and I wanted
to know if she had felt the same way I did as a mother, with lots of
love but not enough time to show it) and in a second, my mother
said she definately loved Jordan more! Not because of what I
mentioned, but because she knew the value of a human life more now
that she was older and able to understand life better! I wasn't
hurt at all by her answer, in fact I was sort of glad. So, the
baby in your dream may very well be a grandchild that someday you
will dearly love!

| Thanks to both Terry and Cathy for your responses -
As for changes in attitudes -- I think they are still the same,
perhaps more defined -- by this I mean I did go through a particularly
difficult time about a year and a half ago, real difficult (workwise)
but with the help of some great support friends (and reading this
file) I put things in perspective... 1 terrible work experience
out of 12 years with the company??... Out of this, I was able to
become stronger, plus my present position is wonderful... people,
work, etc.. could be, but
When Cathy mentioned miscarriage, I did have one back in 78!!
But why so many years before I have some reaction... I have thought
it was God's plan... I had wanted three children, after I had the
miscarriage, we tried and tried but to no avail, then in late 79
I decided that I didn't want to be in my forties and getting
pregnant so we made a decision to only have two children...
On the day I was scheduled for my tubal ligation, the mother
of my present adopted child was being buried. It was a year
later that we took this child into our home, had I gotten
pregnant again, this probably would not have happened.
What intrigues me is how much this child looks like my son,
although it could be that I am reacting to getting older...
and now that he is 21 I am subconciously thinking back to when
he was a baby???
Thanks again for your responses,
Carla

| I have this dream over and over. It is hard to explain, but I will
give it a try.
This part really happened and I think it was the start of my night-
mare. When our family lived on the Air Force Academy, I walked
to school everyday with my best friend. On day, while walking to
school, he walked out into the street without looking and was killed
by a car. When this happened I ran out into the street to see if
he was O.K.. I rolled his body over and I knew that he was dead.
This all happened when I was nine years old.
I had nightmares about this for years, but one night the night-
mare changed. The events of the accident were all the same except
for one part of the dream, when I rolled the body over, the face
was different. It was a face I had seen at school (I was in high
school by this time). I tried to put it out of my mind but I
couldn't. About a week after this dream our football team had a
game in which the guy I had the dream about was killed in.
This has happened three times since then, and it is to the point
that I want to say something to that person but I know they will
think I am crazy. What do you think I should do? I have no idea.
I am afraid to dream about that day anymore because I don't know
if it is going to be someone I know or if it is going to be what
the original nightmare so I just wake myself up.

(expected death ??)
A very peculiar thing happened to me a couple of days ago, which
I would like to share with you, and see whether you have any comment
on it.
Two or three weeks ago, I watched a TV-program presented by a famous
dutch movie-critic. It is a program about new movies to be released
soon in the dutch theatres. It`s an interesting and amusing program
so I watch it often.
This time a very strange sensation got hold of me. I felt that the
presentator was going to die soon, within a couple of weeks or so.
This same sensation came back another two times during the last two weeks.
I thought about writing it down on paper, as if to "prove" it, if
it was going to come true; but I decided not to. Yesterday I heard
on the radio that indeed he had died that day of a sudden heart-attack.
There have never been rumours about heart-problems or so, and he
was "only" 69 years old. When I heard the news I felt very strange.
Question to you all is : do you believe one can "know" something
like this before it happens and/or does anyone have the same
experiences.
Victor
P.S.: Though I can`t remember it that well, I think I have had the
same experience two times before in my life, with people not in
any way related or so.

Two years ago this month I attended a workshop wherein I sat
next to the brother of a woman I know (I had met him perhaps a year
or two earlier at another workshop.) He looked physically great...
he had been overweight but looked trim and had lots of color in his
face, etc. I don't know why, but I had a "sensation" of him dying
of AIDS. He never said a word about any problems. One year later
I was talking to a friend of his sister who told me that "Tom" had
died almost exactly one year earlier (or very near the time I last
saw him.) He died of AIDS complications (and his sister, whom I saw
for the first time in almost two years this weekend, said he died
with great dignity and elegance.)
I agree, it is kind of spooky to sense this.

She is now six years old, blonde, blue eyed and getting more gorgeous
and precocious every day. Her name is Emily Jo. She came with her
first name but the second is for my maternal grandmother, Jo Van Fleet.

| I frequently seem to experience things that I cannot possibly know.
Probably the best example is when I'm watching a card game,
particularly pontoon, brag or poker, and I know what the next card
turned up will be.
My boyfriend never used to believe me until I accompanied him one day
on a brag drive ( we were both only observers ). I was watching
everyone play, and kept saying to my boyfriend "He needs to bet again;
the next card will be the Queen oF Spades" , or "He should stop, he's
going to get the nine of hearts which won't do any good." In a whole
evening, I was only wrong on the turn of one card, and that came up in
the next trick. I didn't say anything to the players, as I think it's
wrong to use pre-knowledge for things like this, also they'd blame you
if you were wrong!
The only other time it happens is when I watch horse racing, and I know
which horses will be first, second and third, but I am not quite so
accurate on this ( only about 85% ). I couldn't bet if I wanted to, as
I never "know" until the race has just started.
Does this happen to anyone else?

| Hi Angel,
Welcome, welcome. In my opinion, the experiences you are
describing are suggestive of very significant talent.
I've never had them myself, but my wife and others have demonstrated
"knowing what could not be known" beyond any reasonable doubt in my mind.
I once taught my wife a sophisticated meditative technique, just for fun,
and went out to the supermarket. When I came home, I went back upstairs
and she described an image that came into her mind of me (I hadn't
indicated where I was going or what I was getting) doing exactly what I
had actually done. The color of the cans I had bought, everything right
down to the last detail. Wherever that information came from, it was a
very powerful display of creative imagery. Your experience is
even more interesting, since you are either anticipating something
that hasn't happened yet, (or influencing it !).
Angel is a GREAT name for someone with psi talent, but I'm not sure
about ORDERADMIN :-).
best wishes,
Todd

| Mary -
Does it happen to you with things like cards, horses etc ?
I'd be really interested to hear about some of your experiences.
re -2 :
Nothing like that has ever happened to me.....it sounds incredible. Are
your wife and yourself usually strongly telepathic, or was this just an
isolated incident?

| re: .46, Angel,
The connection is fairly rare, and usually when one or both of us are
very relaxed, sleeping, etc.. We never tried to specifically cultivate it
farther, and she rarely meditates anymore, although her dream life is
incredibly rich. As an unrelated aside, her dream life is very often
bloody violent, although she usually has control and triumphs (lucid
dreams), just as she always has in life. Shades of the Senoi !
The most amazing one to me was the one I described.
The most fun one was when we both had the same dream on the same
night about the baby we were expecting; although we didn't know the
sex ahead of time, we both got a clear picture of a boy, and all of
the major features turned out to be accurate. Not as remarkable as
the other experience, but we got a kick out of it. :-)
warm regards,
Todd

My knowing is mostly related to people: moods, motivation, maybe the jist of
some background, how they are most likely to react in a situation. Every once
in a while, I have had some conrete knowledge about someone that they have
never told to anyone before. I think this happens because of natural empathy
(I have trouble seperating others' emotions from my own once in a while,
especially if they are extreme emotions).

| I'm new to notes so if this doesn't come out right I'm sorry. since
reading this I too have tried to control the environment which
surrounds me while dreaming. I have found that if I am too aware of my
control I awaken suddenly. No matter how hard I try I cannot return
to the same situation. I am trying to remember them, but unless I
write them down within an hour I find them hard to remember. My
question is deos anyone else awaken, if so what helps to get back to
the dream.
P.S. I have found that Vit. B really has improved my
dreaming.

T.R.,
Something I heard while growing up has certainly
proved ture in my life. That is that many things in life are like a
butterfly; if I chase after it it will flutter just beyond my grasp,
but when I sit quietly it comes and rests upon my shoulder. In order
to return to my dream I would be inclined to relax and allow it to
happen.
I would like to offer a statement of caution about using
"B" vitimins to enhanse dreaming. Several notes have been written,in
this file,on the subject and may prove interesting, helpful, informative.
Later,
Mark
