384.0. "SEC Sports" by CSC32::J_MANNING (Only Amiga Makes it Possible) Mon Oct 08 1990 12:34

It is about time to add an SEC sports topic. I will start the ball
rolling by posting reviews of the last 2 weeks of SEC football games.
These reviews are written by Mark Mitchel from Georgia Tech.

ALABAMA (1-3) whipped VANDERBILT (1-2), 59-28: The Commodores' wishbone
                                                execution was exactly
the reverse of the precision shown against LSU; in fact, Vandy managed
to fumble the first four times they had the ball, and left the first
quarter trailing 31-0. The Crimson Tide capitalized on virtually every
'Dore mistake, and racked up 390 rushing yards against the seemingly
always outmanned Vandy rushing defense. The 52 first half points were
a Tide record. Vanderbilt managed to score three 4th quarter TD's against
'Bama's Nth string defense. Backup QB Danny Woodson was unimpressive for
the Tide, throwing 6 times for no completions and 2 interceptions.

AUBURN (2-0-1) tied TENNESSEE (3-0-2), 26-26: The Volunteers looked into
                                               the mirror Saturday night
and saw a familiar sight, but of course a mirror reverses the image.
The similarities between this game and Colorado-Tennessee were at times
eerie: the first-half mistakes by both teams, the game seemingly put
away, the sluggish team awaking to forge a comeback, and the end result
a tie which felt a little better for one team than the other. This time
Tennessee got to try the elusive tie-breaking field goal, but Greg Burke's
34-yard try went wide with 11 seconds remaining. The Vols had led 26-9
with 11:48 to play, but Tiger QB Stan White brought his team back to tie
on the strength of a great passing performance (30-58-1, 338 yards)
and some help from his receivers via some amazing catches. The Volunteer
offense was held in check most of the night by the Auburn defense, but
crucial errors repeatedly led to Vol points. Tennessee ended up with 318
yards total offense, 82 of that coming on a single pass play. Dye made
a couple of mistakes which may have cost his team a win (including
going for 2 down 19-9 and trying a 4th-and-3 midway through the 3rd
quarter rather than kicking a field goal), but he probably had no idea
how well they would move the ball in the 4th quarter. Both teams still
have a good chance to win the conference, but Tennessee is now a
National Championship longshot with 2 ties.

FLORIDA (4-0) over MISSISSIPPI STATE (2-2), 34-21: Don't be fooled by that
                                                    final score: the Gator
defense is its usual tough self. Mississippi State scored only 7 points
against the Florida defense Saturday, but tossed in 14 more (fumble returns)
against the offense. The Bulldogs managed only 135 yards total offense.
On the other side of the ball Air Spurrier continued the passing assault,
racking up 373 yards in the air. Newly promoted starting RB Errict Rhett
had a good day as well, netting 143 rushing yards on 25 carries and also
scoring the Gators' opening TD on a 7-yard pass play from QB Shane Matthews.

GEORGIA (3-1) over East Carolina (1-3), 19-15: The Dawgs were not very
                                                impressive against the
less-than-stellar Pirates Saturday, but did manage to spoil former Georgia
assistant Bill Lewis' homecoming. The Bulldogs entered the 4th quarter
down 9-3, but freshman RB Garrison Hearst scored two TD's and PK John
Kasay added a PAT and a field goal to give Georgia a 19-9 lead with 8:54
remaining. The Junkyard Dog defense allowed ECU to grab 330 yards of
total offense.

KENTUCKY (1-3) was idle.

LSU (3-1) beat Texas A&M (3-1), 17-8: Bayou Bengal WR Todd Kinchen scored
two 4th-quarter TD's to break open
a defensive struggle which his team led 3-0 at the end of the 3rd. The
Tigers picked off 4 Aggie passes while turning the ball over only once,
but penalties are still a problem for this team (13-121 yards). Texas A&M
was dealt a blow in the second quarter when star RB Darren Lewis was
ejected for throwing a forearm.

OLE MISS (3-1) over Tulane (2-3), 31-21: Rebel RB Randy Baldwin finally
                                          had the kins of performance
he was expected to have this season against the Green Wave Saturday night,
accumulating 241 yards and 2 TD's on just 17 carries. Tulane entered the
final period trailing 24-7, but made the final respectable with two late
scores.

ALABAMA (2-3) over Southwestern Louisiana (2-4), 25-6: Alabama beat the
							Ragin' Cajuns
fairly easily but still not too impressively Saturday. The defense
proved solid again, but the offense was unable to get touchdowns
against a team which gave up 5 to Louisiana Tech last week. The Tide
settled for field goals an incredible 6 times, all as close as the
Cajun 20 yard line. USL ended up with 242 yards total offense, but
less than 100 of that total came against the starting Tide defense.

AUBURN (3-0-1) over Louisiana Tech (3-3), 16-14: The Tigers had as much
						  trouble reaching the
end zone as their cross-state rivals, settling for 3 FG's inside the
La. Tech 15, unable to punch in the touchdown. The Bulldogs came close
to a stirring upset in this one, only to be disappointed by a 30-yard
Jim Von Wyle field goal in the closing seconds. Tech scored first in
the game by blocking an Auburn punt and taking just two plays to cover
the remaining 15 yards for the TD. They stayed with the Tigers the
rest of the way by controlling the ball and playing great defense inside
their own 20.

FLORIDA (5-0) routed LSU (3-2), 34-8: Another excellent effort by the
				       Gator defense allowed no TD's
and only 6 points to the Bayou Bengals. Gator RB Errict Rhett had
his second starring performance in as many weeks, picking up 105 yards
on just 15 carries. The Gator offense took full advantage of some
great opportunities provided by the defense and special teams, including
two fumble recoveries and a blocked punt in the first half. Air Spurrier
sputtered frequently, but operated well when it needed to.

GEORGIA (3-2) was trounced by Clemson (5-1), 34-3: The Bulldogs have faced
						    disaster many times this
year (behind Alabama, Southern Miss, and East Carolina entering the 4th
quarter), but previously seemed capable of overcoming it. Not Saturday.
Clemson took it to the Bulldogs hard from the start and did not let up.
Clemson gained 396 yards to Georgia's 131 for the game, including 341 on
the ground. The Tiger defense was simply too much for the hapless Dawg
offense, particularly in the air, where the QB tandem got just 50 yards
and 7 completions from 23 attempts.

OLE MISS (4-1) downed KENTUCKY (1-4), 35-29: The Rebels built a substantial
lead in this one, then hung on
to win against Kentucky. Ole Miss led 35-14 early in the 4th quarter, but
Kentucky scored twice in the final 3 minutes to cut the margin to 6. The
Rebels could have easily scored more, but hurt themselves with unforced
errors, including 9 penalties for 51 yards. The Wildcats showed more
offensive life than they have all season in their 4th-quarter rally, and
QB Brad Smith threw for 211 yards on the day.

MISSISSIPPI STATE (2-2) was idle.

TENNESSEE (3-0-2) was idle.

VANDERBILT (1-3) was crushed by Syracuse (2-1-2), 49-14: The Commodores
							  once again
failed to execute well early, turning over their first possession deep
in Syracuse territory and missing a 26 yard FG their next trip down,
and the result was the same: a rout by a talented team. Perhaps the
flawless execution the 'Dores showed against LSU was a fluke. Vanderbilt
scored some late points after the Orange bench was cleared. The Orangemen
ended the day with 508 yards total offense against the typically unimposing
Vandy defense.

ALABAMA (2-3) is idle, next game Oct. 20 at Tennessee.

AUBURN (3-0-1) hosts VANDERBILT (1-3): Vanderbilt has been blown out by
					SMU, Alabama, and Syracuse, but
had one brilliant offensive showing to beat LSU. Can they do it again
this season? Maybe, but not against an overpowering defense like Auburn's.
On the other side of the ball, Auburn has had some injuries at running back
and some just plain poor execution to keep their running game in the mud.
Vanderbilt's virtually non-existent rushing defense affords the perfect
opportunity to get it unstuck. This could be Tiger QB Stan White's first
non-200 yard passing day: Auburn 38-10
LINE: Auburn -27

FLORIDA (5-0) visits TENNESSEE (3-0-2): The Gators have been putting up
					 the passing numbers this season,
and the Vols proved quite capable of giving some up in their last outing.
Florida will have to be much more crisp on offense this week than they
have been: the Vols' defense plays especially well in Knoxville. The
Gator defense has been nothing short of spectacular this season, and that's
what they'll have to be again to shut doen the powerful Vol attack.
Auburn had trouble pressuring UT QB Andy Kelley in that meeting, and
the Gator rushers will need to do better to counter-act the superior
UT receiving corps. Sometimes an emotional factor outweighs all the
statistics and trends on both sides of the ball. Could Florida's
post-season ban, plus the slap of being Tennessee's homecoming game
be that emotional edge? Maybe, but they still fall short: Tennessee 19-17
LINE: Tennessee -4
[ESPN, 7:30 PM EDT]

GEORGIA (3-2) hosts OLE MISS (4-1): The Rebels have had some good offensive
play, some good defensive play, and some
great special teams play at times this season, but never all three at once.
The Dawgs, coming off their worst loss since 1977, have been inconsistent
as well, and required a 4th quarter rally for each win to date. Expect the
Dogs to try to grind it out on the ground. If they can they'll get a win,
but if not they'll have no luck through the air, and the Rebels will be
off to their best start since 1970. I say they can't: Ole Miss 17-13.
LINE: Georgia -4
[WTBS, 12:30 PM EDT, SportSouth noon Sunday (tape)]

KENTUCKY (1-4) hosts MISSISSIPPI STATE (2-2): The Wildcats have been hapless
on offense, giving up as many
as 8 turnovers in one game. The Bulldogs have shown signs of opportunistic
defense, but their offense has been even less impressive. If there are lots
of mistakes it will likely be to State's advantage, but I'm expecting a
surprisingly well executed game from the 'Cats, and: Kentucky 21-13.
LINE: Kentucky -1

LSU (3-2) is idle, next game Oct. 20 vs. Kentucky.

Not a horn-blower, but can you list the games, like the ones since '85?
I'm not aware that the PAC-10 teams I follow (USC,UCLA) have even

There was a big discussion on Usenet this past summer about Pac10 vs.
SEC and all of the SEC vs. PAC10 games since '84 or '85 were discussed.
I remember that Alabama beat Washington 28-7 in the Sun Bowl and Auburn
beat USC 16-9(or so) in the Gator/Citrus Bowl sometime in the mid-late
    80's...

I think it will be more like 14 to 17 points. Florida has not had to
play any football yet... Like coach Lacewell said "it's time to play
tackle now"... Auburn could not run the ball on us and I don't think
Florida can either. They have a great coach. He always seems to give us
trouble, even when he was offensive coordinator at Duke. Wet turf, and
ESPN may hurt us more then them. We need a big game from Tony Thompson.

let Matt Deboer get out of Omaha!!! He is doing great down here at USC,

The words haven't been stolen, but the music. The tune "Rocky Top
Tennessee" is the same as Yale's "Down the Field" and since Yale played
football long before the Vols, it was Yale's song to steal.

Yale's other major song, "Boola Boola", was stolen by Oklahoma and
forms the first part of "Boomer Sooner". The second part of "Boomer
Sooner" sounds vaguely like North Carolina's "I'm a Tarheel".

I forgot the smilies, but I was only fooling about not respecting
Tennessee. I travelled to Knoxville for a Patriots game with the
Steelers in August, 1983. I was most impressed by the pro-Vol spirit
in the city and was in absolute awe of Neyland Stadium. The boats
docking along the Tennessee River for pre-game tailgating (for lack of
a better term) and the dorm built inside the stadium were nice touches
as well. I also like the way they moved to quickly suspend the players
allegedly involved in a sexual assault.

I heard a college football hour long special on the radio on Sunday
with Beano Cook and another "expert" I had never heard of. Anyway, at
the end, they both picked their #1 team and both selected Tennessee.
After watching them a couple of times this year, I hafta agree. I don't
think any other team in the country could go to Colorado and Auburn and
come out without a defeat. This is one heluva team and will be in good
shape on 1/1. Alabama is weak this year (shoulda kept Curry), and
shouldn't give UT any more trouble than UF did.

ALABAMA (2-3) was idle.

AUBURN (4-0-1) trounced VANDERBILT (1-4), 56-6: It was redshirt freshman
						 QB Stan White's first
non-200-yard passing game, as the Tigers romped and White left the game
at halftime with 133 yards. For the day, the stats looked a lot like
the score, with Auburn amassing 683 all-purpose yards to Vandy's 185.
The Commodores are now playing without 12 starters from the LSU game.

FLORIDA (5-1) fell to TENNESSEE (4-0-2), 45-3: Wow. The halftime score
						of this game looked about
as expected, with the Vols getting the better end of a low-scoring affair
7-3. The roof caved in on the Gators in the 3rd quarter, however, to the
tune of 28 unanswered points, including Dale Carter's 91 yard TD on the
opening kickoff of the half, a 47-yard TD pass from TE Von Reeves to
WR Carl Pickens, and a 22-yard TD on an interception return by LB Reggie
Ingram. The Vol defense really shined in the game, picking up 7 Gator
turnovers and limiting the Florida pass attack to a mere 4 yards per
attempt. Maybe the NCAA did Coach Spurrier a favor by not trading
future scholarships for a bowl this year.

GEORGIA (3-3) fell to OLE MISS (5-1), 28-12: The Rebels are off to their
					      best start since head coach
Billy Brewer was a player, and managed their first win at Athens Saturday
since Archie Manning was their quarterback. It was business as usual
for the Ole Miss defense, allowing lots of yardage between the 20's, but
stiffening close to the goal line. The Rebel offense had its best day
of the year against the fading Dawg defense, running up 399 total yards,
including 292 on the ground. The Bulldogs faced an option offense for
the third straight week, with similar results. The Bulldogs now face the
prospect of their first losing season since 1977.

KENTUCKY (2-4) beat MISSISSIPPI STATE (2-3), 17-15: Bill Curry got his
						     first SEC win at
Kentucky in his second try, and Rockey Felker moved one step closer
to unemployment. The SEC rumor mill has former Clemson coach and
Alabama player Danny Ford headed for Starkville, after being cleared
of any wrongdoing in the Clemson investigation. The difference in the
game came on special teams, where the Wildcats blocked 3 Bulldog FG
attempts in the game, including the potential game-winner with 3:26 left
to play.

LSU (3-2) was idle.

ALABAMA (2-3) visits TENNESSEE (4-0-2): The Crimson Tide had trouble
					 reaching the end zone against
Southwestern Louisiana in their last game, but that was nothing
compared to the defense they'll face Saturday afternoon in Knoxville.
Johnny Majors' team might be taking 'Bama lightly, but a quick reminder
from the coach about 4 straight losses to their neighbors from the
south should sober them up a bit. Judging from the Vols' handling of
Florida's short passing attack, it will be a long night indeed for
Gary Hollingsworth: Tennessee 33-10.
LINE: Tennessee -11
[ESPN 4:10 PM EDT]

AUBURN (4-0-1) hosts Florida State (4-1): The Tigers host the Seminoles
for a battle that will put
one of them out of the race for #1. Bobby Bowden has a 3-game winning
streak against Pat Dye, including 22-14 last year at Tallahassee. The
Tigers have more offense and the Seminoles less defense than last year,
however, and it would be surprising to see Auburn held to so few points
this time around. Bowden's young team fell behind early in the hostile
suroundings of the Orange Bowl, but proved they could put points on the
board in their failed comeback attempt. If they fall into a hole again,
they'll find it just as hard to crawl out in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
My pick: Auburn 27-21
LINE: FSU -1
[ESPN 7:40 PM EDT]

FLORIDA (5-1) hosts Akron (3-3-1): I haven't seen the Zips play this season,
but they are catching the Gators at an
inopportune time this week, following their humiliating drubbing by
Tennessee. Florida should take out their collective frustrations nicely:
Florida 52-10
LINE: none

GEORGIA (3-3) hosts VANDERBILT (1-4): The Bulldogs lost at home to Ole Miss
last week as they continued their
tendencies to start slowly offensively and to have trouble finding the
end zone. Few teams have had trouble in either area this season against
Vandy. The 'Dores had one shining moment this year, but since then have
lost 12 starters to injuries, including their top two quarterbacks. While
the Dawg defense has been suseptible to the option this year, the Commodore
offense has been weak against rushing of any type. I expect a big day
for Georgia freshman RB Garrison Hearst, and: Georgia 35-21.
LINE: Georgia -18

KENTUCKY (2-4) visits LSU (3-2): The Wildcats got their first SEC win under
new coach Bill Curry last week, but the
going gets a bit tougher this Saturday as they take on LSU in always-
intimidating Tiger Stadium. Mike Archer's team has been inconsistent
on offense this year, but the Wildcat defense has made worse offenses
look great. Curry's young team is not up to the pressure of Baton Rouge,
and mistakes will abound for the team in blue & white: LSU 31-16.
LINE: LSU -12.5

OLE MISS (5-1) hosts Arkansas State (3-3-1): The Rebels are off to their
best start in more than two
decades this year, and they should have little trouble continuing it this
Saturday versus the Indians. Last year this team gave Billy Brewer a scare,
so this year I think they'll be well prepared in Oxford. My pick:
Mississippi 34-13.
LINE: none

MISSISSIPPI STATE (2-3) visits Tulane (2-5): This biannual trip to
New Orleans to take on the
Green Wave is as close as the Bulldogs are likely to get to the Sugar
Bowl for the next few years. Rumors persist regarding Rockey Felker's
status and the availability of Danny Ford. For this week, however, the
coach has a good chance to pick up another win against the struggling
Wave. Tulane will find it hard to score on the respectable Bulldog "D",
but the MSU "O" finds it hard to score on just about anyone. This
week they get untracked: Mississippi State 24-13.

Colorado may not be as good as they were last year, but they were good
enough to tie the co-leader of the SEC (Tennessee), beat Stanford (who
beat Notre Dame in South Bend), lose a one point game to the leader
of the Big Ten (Illinois at Champaign), beat Texas (who beat Oklahoma

It ain't easy following a legend. Earl Bruce found that out after
succeeding Woody Hayes. Sometimes this legacy continues. An example is

successors. Alabam football seems to be like this.

One wonders what will happen to No Carolina basketball after Dean and

What can I say? Our play selection stunk. The last two times we had the
ball it was evident that Johnny was going to happy with a field goal,
not to take anything away from the Alabama defense. Both defenses
played great, but only one completed pass to a wide receiver for eight

That Auburn-Florida State game was a good one! (I was switching
between it and the World Series late in the game.) Auburn pulled off
another miraculous comeback, aided in large part by two late
helmet-on-helmet cheap shots following incompletions. Is this kind of
activity taught at FSU? Deion Sanders seems to have brought it to the
NFL. Just as in the Tennessee game, Auburn converted on
fourth-and-long in the last drive when they had to, and came up with a
huge *twenty-yard* sack to knock FSU out of field-goal position on
    their last possession.

A couple of ESPN's sideline geniuses were again wrongly questioning Pat
Dye for kicking the PAT to tie the game with almost four minutes to go,
enough time for both teams to hold possession of the ball. One of
them asked Dye about it after the game on the sidelines and Dye was
notably disturbed, saying he didn't want to hear that stuff anymore and
that he did what was best for his team to win, which they did. How can
    you question results?

ALABAMA (3-3) upset TENNESSEE (4-1-2), 9-6: Wow! Just one week after
					     decimating Florida at home,
the Vols were manhandled by the Tide defense, netting just 8 first downs
and 175 total yards. It was a rough night for the Big Orange QB's, who
combined for a 9-25-2, 51 yard performance. The 'Bama offense fared only
slightly better against the much-improved UT defense, but then again they
haven't been too successful at finding the end zone against anyone but
Vandy so far. If the Alabama "D" continues to play like they did Saturday
night, however, very little offense will be needed to win. The key play in
the game came with 1:35 remaining, as SS Stacy Harrison blocked a 50-yard
Greg Burke field goal attempt, giving 'Bama possession at the Vol 37. Three
plays later, on 4th down with just 4 seconds remaining, Tide PK Philip Doyle
hit the winning field goal from 47 yards out.

AUBURN (5-0-1) beat Florida State (4-2), 20-17: The Tigers were dominated
						 by the Seminoles for the
entire 2nd quarter and entered half time trailing 17-7. The defense shut
the door on FSU in the second half though, holding the visitors scoreless
while their shaky offense finally got on track. Auburn pulled within
17-10 in the third quarter, but the 'Noles were driving at their 34 yard
line when a Bowden trademark gadget play (in this case the "fumblerooskie")
backfired as Tiger NG Walter Tate grabbed the grounded ball. The home
team then went 57 yards for a TD with 3:47 remaining in the game. Dye elected
once again to kick the extra point and count on his defense to get the ball
back. They did just that on a 4th down sack of FSU QB Casey Weldon by T
Ricky Sutton, giving Auburn the ball on downs at the Seminole 41. A few plays
later, with just 2 seconds remaining, PK Jim Von Wyl hit a 38-yard FG to
get the win. For the night, the Seminoles outgained the Tigers 358 yards
to 264. Both teams hurt themselves with untimely mistakes, including 7
turnovers and 225 yards in penalties.

FLORIDA (6-1) ripped Akron (3-4-1), 59-0: The Gators vented their frustrations
					   from last week's whipping by
Tennessee by pounding the outmanned Zips. The total yardage figures matched
the score, with Florida leading 595 yards to 84 for the game. Six different
Gators scored, and QB's Matthews, Barber, and Fox each had a TD pass.

GEORGIA (4-3) beat VANDERBILT (1-5), 39-28: This one was in doubt (Georgia
clinging to a 33-28 lead) until
3rd-string freshman QB Joe Dupree hit freshman WR Andre Hastings on a 68-yard
scoring strike midway through the 4th quarter. The Dawg defense faced its
4th consecutive option offense, and seemed almost powerless to stop the option
for the 4th straight game, giving up 267 yards on 46 carries to the Commodores.
The 'Dores continued their season-long trend of shooting themselves in the foot,
dropping 6 fumbles (2 lost), many of them at crucial junctures of the game.
Both teams spent the day marching up and down the field, and the 'Dogs ended
up edging the 'Dores 516 yards to 487 in total offense.

KENTUCKY (2-5) fell to LSU (4-2), 30-20: Bayou Bengal RB Harvey Williams had
his best game of the year, grabbing
213 yards on 28 carries and scoring 2 TD's as his team avenged last year's
loss to the Wildcats. Kentucky was able to move the ball on the Tigers
(354 yards total offense), but could not stop them on defense when they
needed to. 'Cat RB Al Baker had a fine night in Williams' shadow, racking
up 159 rushing yards on 17 carries.

OLE MISS (6-1) beat Arkansas State (3-4-1), 42-13: Rebel RB Randy Baldwin
						    scored 4 TD's in the
first 19 minutes of the game Saturday to lead the Rebels to an easy win
over the Indians. The win assured Ole Miss of consecutive winning seasons
for the first time since 1970-71.

MISSISSIPPI STATE (3-3) over Tulane (2-6), 38-17: The Bulldogs entered the
						   4th quarter tied 17-17
with the Green Wave, but scored 21 unanswered points to win big. State
"short yardage" QB William "Sleepy" Robinson ran the offense for just
five plays in the game, but threw for two touchdowns and ran for a third.
WR Melvin Ferdinand starred for the Green Wave, catching 9 balls for 128
yards.

Comments: With Alabama's upset of Tennessee, the possibility of repeating
the situation of 1984 becomes much more likely. Florida won the
SEC that year, but was denied the championship and the Sugar Bowl because
of NCAA sanctions. Should the Gators beat Auburn, Georgia, and Kentucky
(all quite plausible) and Tennessee beat Ole Miss, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt
(also plausible) the Gators would be unofficial champs again. Auburn or
Tennessee would then probably go to the Sugar Bowl. Should Auburn win the
rest of their games, they might end up in a "national championship" game
with Virginia in the Sugar Bowl. One other possibility would be for
Ole Miss and Florida to each win the rest of their games, sending the
Rebels to the Sugar Bowl for the first time in 20 years.

I was 6-1 picking winners last week and 3-2 against the spread, bringing
the season totals to 33-10-2 and 20-18, respectively.

ALABAMA (3-3) hosts Penn State (4-2): The Nittany Lions come to visit
the Crimson Tide on the heels
of a big upset of Tennessee last week in Knoxville in which the 'Bama
defense was nothing short of brilliant. The Tide offense was hardly
outstanding, but moved the ball at times and commited fewer errors than
in the early-season losses. The Penn State offense, however, is in high
gear, scoring 27 versus Syracuse 2 weeks ago and 41 versus Boston College
last Saturday. Look for that trend to end in Tuscaloosa, and a game as
close as last year's at Penn State: Alabama 16-13.
LINE: Alabama -2
[ESPN, 4:10 PM EDT]

AUBURN (5-0-1) visits MISSISSIPPI STATE (3-3): The Tigers come into Starkville
                                                Saturday having gotten a big
3-game losing streak to Florida State off their collective back, and should
be playing with increased confidence and intensity. The Bulldogs have three
non-conference wins under their belt, but have lost all three SEC contests
so far by an average score of 30-14. Auburn QB Stan White had his first
bad day of the season against FSU (12-28-3-98 yards), but look for him to
rebound in a big way against the 'Dogs. My pick: Auburn 31-7.
LINE: Auburn -14

FLORIDA (6-1) is idle. Next game is Nov. 3, hosting Auburn.

GEORGIA (4-3) visits KENTUCKY (2-5): The Bulldogs still believe they can
finish the year with a winning record,
but to do so will require a win against the Wildcats and one of Florida,
Auburn, and Georgia Tech. That's a tall order for a team with a struggling
defense and one of the weakest offenses in the SEC. Kentucky has been improving
throughout the season, but unfortunately for the 'Cats, so has the level
of competition. If they can hold the 'Dawgs early and avoid having to play
catch-up, they just might pull off a minor upset in Lexington. For that
to happen, they'll have to contain the Georgia running game early and force
them to throw. I think they can: Kentucky 27-24.
LINE: Georgia -1

LSU (4-2) visits Florida State (4-2): Bobby Bowden's young Seminole team is
bound to be fighting mad after letting
a 10-point halftime lead and a 7-point 4th-quarter lead turn to a loss last
week on the road at Auburn. LSU, on the other hand, may still be hurting from
the beating they took on the last trip to the Sunshine State (Oct. 6 vs.
Florida). The 'Noles will need to eliminate some of the mistakes which
crippled them against Auburn to move the ball effectively against these
Tigers, but that shouldn't be hard in the familiar confines of Doak Campbell
Stadium. Unless Bayou Bengal RB Harvey Williams can match his 213 yard
performance of last week, the winner will be: Florida State 34-17.
LINE: FSU -16
[WTBS, 12:40 PM EDT, SportSouth, noon Sunday (tape)]

OLE MISS (6-1) visits VANDERBILT (1-5): The two lone option offenses in the
SEC square off in Nashville Saturday,
with the Rebels looking to secure their second consecutive bowl bid. The
Commodores ran their offense very effectively against Georgia last week under
QB Marcus Wilson (returning from an injury in the Alabama game), but still
made errors at critical moments in the game. The Commodore defense again
showed that it is not ready to stop anyone, particularly on the ground.
Ole Miss' scrappy defense should be able to take advantage of 'Dore miscues,
their offense should grind through the Vandy defense easily, and the special
teams will probably make a couple of big plays too. That leads to a big
Rebel win: Ole Miss 42-17.
LINE: Ole Miss -16

TENNESSEE is idle. Next game is Nov. 3, hosting Temple.

`Bama looked real good on Saturday. As much as I hate them you have to

we played against them. I guess losing is in their "Genes"....

Let's get ready for Temple. Whoooo 38-13 Vols. Watch for Lloyd Kerr
a redshirt freshman, or Steve Matthews to get a bunch of playing time
Saturday with Henton's injury. I hope Andy has his head ready for the

ALABAMA (3-4) fell to Penn State (5-2), 9-0: The Nittany Lions snapped
                                              a three-game losing streak
against the Crimson Tide with a solid defensive effort. This game marked
the first time since 1955 that Alabama had been shut out in Tuscaloosa.
The Alabama offense was at its worst, with the help of a determined
Penn State defensive unit, give the ball away 6 times, including 5
interceptions. The Tide was crippled by its lack of success on the ground
(leading rusher Kevin Turner had 17 yards on 7 carries). The defense
played another game worthy of a win, including limiting Lion RB Leroy
Thompson to 39 yards on 26 carries.

AUBURN (6-0-1) squeaked by MISSISSIPPI STATE (3-4), 17-16: The Bulldogs
                                                            were able to
capitalize on Auburn's mistakes (fumble and blocked punt) to stay close
in this game, and then forged an 80-yard TD drive late in the 4th quarter.
The potential tying PAT was blocked with 2:33 showing on the clock, however,
to preserve the Tiger lead. From that point the visitors ran out the clock
to seal the fortunate win. Though Auburn outgained the Bulldogs 405 yards
to 295, they also out-turnovered (2-0) them and out-penaltied (6-53 yards)
them at crucial moments in the game. Time will tell whether Auburn has
been (1) lucky to beat Ole Miss and Florida State and tie Tennessee, (2)
unlucky to nearly lose to MSU and Louisiana Tech, or (3) playing at the
level of the competition.

FLORIDA (6-1) was idle.

GEORGIA (4-4) lost to KENTUCKY (3-5), 26-24: The Bulldogs continued their
                                              defensive slide this week by
allowing the SEC's worst running team to pick up 262 yards on the ground.
The Wildcats outgained the Dawgs 461-276 yards on offense, but let the
visitors stay in the game with superior special teams play, including TDs
of 69 yards (Chuck Carswell on a punt return) and 89 yards (Andre Hastings
on a kickoff return). For Bill Curry, it was his team's best showing of
the year and second SEC victory in 4 tries.

LSU (4-3) was stomped by Florida State (5-2), 42-3: Whew! Mike Archer's
                                                     team may not want
to return to the state of Florida again soon, having been whipped
by a combined score of 76-11 in two trips there this season. The visiting
Tigers committed 5 turnovers in the game, including 3 first-half fumbles
which led to Seminole scores. The end of the game was marred by an ugly
bench-clearing brawl which appeared to me to be started and escalated by
LSU players. The total offense figures for the game were 207 for the
Bengals and 468 for the 'Noles.

OLE MISS (7-1) nipped VANDERBILT (1-6), 14-13: The Commodores flirted
                                                with another big upset
ala LSU Saturday at home in Nashville, but fell just short against
the nationally-ranked Rebels. For the game Ole Miss outgained the
hosts 446 yards to 314, but had trouble getting points without starting
QB Tom Luke. Rebel RB Randy Baldwin continued his recent success with
121 rushing yards on 18 carries. The 'Dores showed once again that they
can play with the "big boys" when they avoid offensive mistakes; they had
only one fumble and no interceptions Saturday.

TENNESSEE (4-1-2) was idle.

ALABAMA (3-4) visits MISSISSIPPI STATE (3-4): These two teams are coming
					       off of painful losses,
State's being a near upset of conference leader Auburn, and 'Bama's being
a decidedly rotten offensive showing at home against Penn State. Both
of these teams still have an outside shot at a bowl game (only because
some quality teams are ineligible and because there are a *lot* of bowls
these days), but they rarely need outside incentives like that to play
hard against one another. The Bulldog defense has not been as good as
it was hoped to be in the preseason, but it has looked good enough to
keep the mysteriously toothless Tide offense in check. The problem for
the 'Dogs will be on the other side the ball, where the seemingly ever-
improving Tide defense will probably have its way. Alabama 13-6
LINE: Alabama -8.5
[WTBS, 12:40 PM EST]

AUBURN (6-0-1) visits FLORIDA (6-1): First place Auburn visits second
				      place (but ineligible) Florida
on the heels of a near upset by lowly Mississippi State. History is
on the Gators' side (witness the fate of previously unbeaten Auburn in
1986), but the intangibles may be on Auburn's. The Tigers have yet to
play a really solid ball game, yet they've beaten Florida State and Ole
Miss and tied Tennessee. This matchup will certainly be the one which
tells us if Auburn has been lucky to win so many so far or has been
underachieving to nearly lose so many so far. The Tigers' most obvious
weak area to this point has been the running game, and that just happens
to be the strength of the Gator "D". I'll predict that the team with
the most rushing yards will win the game, and that it will be: Florida 21-20.
LINE: Florida -4
[ESPN, 7:40 PM EST]

GEORGIA (4-4) is idle. Next game is Nov. 10 versus Florida in Jacksonville.

KENTUCKY (3-5) is idle. Next game is Nov. 10 versus Vanderbilt.

LSU (4-3) hosts OLE MISS (7-1): The Rebels are looking good at 7-1, but
that record has been tarnished in recent
weeks by the absolute collapse of Arkansas and Georgia (probably the best
of the "7") and the shaky performances of Auburn (the "1"). The Tigers are
returning from their second not-too-successful road trip to Florida this
season with revenge on their minds. Tiger Stadium is never an easy place
to play as visitor, especially at night (LSU once again refused to move
a home game to daylight hours for TV, relying on the nighttime mystique).
Judging from the way the Bayou Bengals have defensed the run this season,
and the option in particular (against Vanderbilt), the Rebs may have some
success running the ball. A Rebel win would put serious doubts on both
LSU's bowl possibilities and Mike Archer's employment future. I'll guess
that Billy Brewer's overachievers will get the big win they've fallen
short of the past two seasons: Ole Miss 22-21.
LINE: even

TENNESSEE (4-1-2) hosts Temple (4-3): The Vols return to action against the
Owls two weeks after their surprising
loss at home to Alabama. Sure they'll be looking ahead to Notre Dame and
sure Temple is significantly improved, but neither of those is enough to
keep this probably angry bunch of Vols from a rout: Tennessee 45-10.
LINE: Tennessee -28

VANDERBILT (1-6) is idle. Next game is Nov. 10 at Kentucky.

I was 4-1 picking winners last week, but 1-4 against the spread.
Season totals are now 37-11-2 picking winners and 21-22 ATS.

This is true, but we have Mississippi in Memphis. It is a Ole Miss home
game. Originaly scheduled to be played in Oxford, but they decidied to
move it to Memphis. More money... It will be more like a UT home game,
but on the other hand we have not played our best football on that
field. I'll try to find some stats for all the Vol fans in this note. I
think it wwill be our toughest game. We better not be flat after our

Well, 4 pretenders(UVA, Nebraska, Illinois and Auburn) bit the dust today.
There is not much to be said about the UF-AU game. AU had -14 yds rushing(about
-50 in sacks), 48 points is the most scored against a Pat Dye coached team,
UF completed their first 9 passes and were 12-15 at the half. It was just a
good old-fashioned butt kicking. With that said, I hope the Florida people
enjoyed this victory. They were up 41-7 with less than 6 minutes left in the
game and were still playing their starting players on both sides of the line.
They drove down the field and scored the final TD with less than 2 minutes to
go and still had their starting offensive backfield and receivers in the game.
They even went so far as to attempt a long pass on that last possession. This
is not a good way for a first year coach to make a good impression on a team
that he will be playing every year. Florida is losing about 6-7 starters on
defense to graduation and must go to Auburn to play next year. I have a feeling
that Pat Dye and Auburn will not have forgotten this humiliation by then. I
guess we Auburn fans know what Florida felt like 3 weeks ago in Knoxville. UF
scored 27 points in the 2nd quarter tonight, Tennessee scored 28 points against
Florida in the 3rd quarter 3 weeks ago. I guess it also goes to show what can
happen when you play on the road in the SEC...

I guess ND will be #1 this week with Washington in 2nd. It is too bad that
Washington is going to be stuck playing a lower ranked team in the Rose Bowl.
They seem to be playing the best of any team in the nation right now.

We didn't look real good in beating Temple. It looked more like
practice with only 93,000 fans there. Andy had a good stat wise, but
Pickens made two outstanding catches. There was liitle to no concern

The Vols were a little flat against Temple, but with ND coming up
they had to be thinking ahead. I am hoping that the ND defense plays
like it did against Navy, but it is not likely seeing how they seem to

ALABAMA (4-4) beat MISSISSIPPI STATE (3-5), 22-0: The Crimson Tide finally
                                                   found the end zone this
week after failing to score a TD in the previous two outings. The defense
continued its dominating surge, shutting out the Bulldogs on their home
field. The 'Bama "D" has allowed an average of just 4.25 points in
4 games. Freshman RB Chris Anderson led the Tide offense with 19 carries
for 109 yards and 5 pass receptions for 35 yards. There were no real
bright spots to report for the Bulldogs. QB Tony Shell struggled to
a 13-31-2-134 yard performance.

AUBURN (6-1-1) was roasted by FLORIDA (7-1), 48-7: Wow! The Gators
                                                    were as well-prepared
and motivated as I've ever seen a team be. Those who speculated that
probation status would stunt Florida's spirit were flat wrong. Florida
outgained the Tigers 455 yards to 172, and scored the most points ever
against a Pat Dye-coached Auburn team. It's too bad the Gators can't
represent the league in the Sugar Bowl this season. They'll have to
be satisfied with spoiling Auburn's chances. UF QB Shane Matthews was
just about flawless on the night (as were virtually all of his teammates)
posting 18-28-0-207 yard stats.

GEORGIA (4-4) was idle.

KENTUCKY (3-5) was idle.

LSU (4-4) fell to OLE MISS (8-1), 19-10: Billy Brewer's Rebels finally
got the big win which has eluded
them for the past year and a half, beating LSU at night in Tiger Stadium.
The Rebs had their way on the ground against the Bayou Bengals, outrushing
the hosts 226 yards to just 89. RB Randy Baldwin stood out once again
for Ole Miss, scoring his 3rd touchdown before halftime. That put the
Rebels up 19-7 and LSU never threatened again. RB Harvey Williams stood
out in the Tigers' losing effort, picking up 69 yards on 20 carries and
connecting with F Marcus Carter on a 43-yard pass for the home team's lone
touchdown.

TENNESSEE (5-1-2) beat Temple (4-4), 41-20: The Vols actually played
                                             a fairly sloppy game, but
still easily outdistanced the visiting Owls. The Big Orange had
particular trouble with untimely penalties (8 for 90 yards) which
kept the Owls close. Volunteer QB Andy Kelley had a great day throwing
the ball (15-21-1-264 yards) and RB Tony Thompson had another 100+ day
running it (19 carries for 120 yards) to pace their squad. Temple was
held to 73 rushing yards on 35 tries.

VANDERBILT (1-6) was idle.

ALABAMA (4-4) hosts LSU (4-4): Two more middle-of-the-pack teams face
off to see who can stay in contention
for a bowl game. The Tigers were dominated at home by the Ole Miss
defense last week, and they've been an abysmal team on the road this
year (losing 3 games by a combined score of 32-100). The Tide, on the
other hand, has been steadily improving on defense, though still
irratic when they've got the ball. Teams have had good success running
the ball on the Bayou Bengals, though, and that's the way Gene Stallings
likes it. His team will rush often and well: Alabama 17-8.
LINE: Alabama -14.5

AUBURN (6-1-1) hosts Southern Mississippi (7-3): The Tigers limp home from
						  a thorough thrashing in
Gainesville to take on the probably bowl-bound Golden Eagles. The visitors
have held their own against the SEC this year, edging Alabama at the start
of the year and losing to Georgia ans Mississippi State by the slimmest
of margins. Auburn QB Stan White took a devastating shot in the second half
of the Gainesville massacre, but has been declared healthy enough to start
this week's game. The Tigers may repeat their Mississippi State/La. Tech
close call routine again, but should pull out the win: Auburn 20-10.
LINE: Auburn -11.5

FLORIDA (7-1) plays GEORGIA (4-4) in Jacksonville: The World's Largest
						    Cocktail Party has
a tradition of tight, intense games which the Bulldogs seem to win more than
their fair share of. After Florida's dismemberment of Auburn last week,
however, Las Vegas (and most everyone else) are expecting a not-so-close
result this year. The 19-point spread against Georgia is the largest
ever (since they started publishing lines in the 60's). It's hard to
imagine Florida playing as well as they did last week, but it's even
harder to imagine the floundering Dawgs making a game out of this one.
I'll take: Florida 38-10.
LINE: Florida -19
[WTBS, 12:30 PM EST]

KENTUCKY (3-5) hosts VANDERBILT (1-6): The Commodores have finally developed
					some consistency in their wishbone
offense, having executed it very effectively the last two games (against
Georgia and Ole Miss). The Wildcats have settled into their offense as
well behind QB Freddie Maggard, averaging 365 yards/game over the last four
outings (Ole Miss, Miss. St., LSU, Georgia). Both teams have struggled
defensively all season, but are coming off effective performances on that
side as well. This should be a high-scoring affair, with the winning team
being the one with the fewest turnovers. That will be: Kentucky 35-31.
LINE: Kentucky -9

MISSISSIPPI (8-1) is idle. Next game is Nov. 17 vs. Tennessee.

MISSISSIPPI STATE (3-5) visits Memphis State (4-4-1): The Bulldogs will
						       have some trouble
moving the ball against a somewhat improved Tiger team, and will need a
superior defensive game to win. This could be one of the uglier games
of the season: Mississippi State 12-10.
LINE: Memphis State -1

TENNESSEE (5-1-2) hosts Notre Dame (7-1): The Vols have been pointing to
this game for some time, and
should be ready to play before the national TV audience Saturday afternoon.
The Fighting Irish are a hard team to figure this year, having beaten
Miami convincingly but looking much less impressive in other outings.
The crowd in Knoxville will be intense, and could give the visitors
problems should they fall behind early. The home team needs to establish
the running game early, then pull the stops on their quick receivers.
Look for the team with with the most rushing yardage to win the game.
That will be: Tennessee 31-26.
LINE: Tennessee -3
[CBS, 2:00 PM EST]

I was 4-0 picking winners last week, but only 1-3 versus the spread.
This brings my totals to 41-11-2 and 22-25.

ALABAMA (5-4) over LSU (4-5), 24-3: The Crimson Tide broke the winless
string for the home team in this
series at 9 straight years. The win featured 'Bama's 13th-16th
consecutive quarters without allowing a touchdown. (In fact, the
first team defense hasn't given one up since September.) The Tide
joined the long list of teams who have run the ball with ease against
LSU this season, rolling up 271 yards on 55 attempts. The ground assault
was led by freshman RB Chris Anderson with 116 yards on 15 carries.
The game was close until early in the 4th quarter (7-3) when LSU coach
Mike Archer made a questionable substitution to try to generate some
offense. Inexperienced QB Chris Moock threw into the waiting arms of
'Bama lineman Spencer Hammond shortly thereafter, and Hammond proceeded
into the end zone untouched for a 12-yard TD.

AUBURN (6-2-1) lost to Southern Miss (8-3), 13-12: The Tigers struggled
                                                    offensively in scoring
position for the entire game, settling for 4 Jim Von Wyl field goals on
their first 4 possessions. The gutsy Golden Eagle defense then held the
home team in check for the rest of the game, and allowed their offense to
go to work in the 4th quarter. Southern QB Brett Favre led his team on
drives of 69 and 68 yards in the final period to beat the Tigers, their
second win in two visits to the state of Alabama this season. Statistically,
the game was very even, with Auburn edging the visitors 310 to 292 total
yards.

FLORIDA (8-1) whipped GEORGIA (4-5), 38-7: The Gators picked up right
                                            where they left off against
Auburn last weekend by thoroughly beating the rival Bulldogs in the
annual Jacksonville gathering. Air Spurrier amassed 359 yards passing
against the 'Dawgs, and the nation's #2 defense flexed its muscle all
afternoon, even scoring some points of its own. There were mistakes
and breakdowns by the Florida offense, without which the final result
could have been even more lopsided. QB Shane Matthews starred for the
winning squad, racking up 26-39-0-344 numbers and 3 TD's throwing.
If there was a bright spot for the Bulldogs in this game, it was rushing
defense, where the Gators were held to 111 yards on 40 carries.

KENTUCKY (4-5) beat VANDERBILT (1-7), 28-21: The Commodores stayed with
                                              the Wildcats for most of
the game, entering the 4th quarter in a 21-21 deadlock. The UK defense
didn't exactly shine against the visitors, giving up 341 yards on the
ground to the Vandy wishbone, but did manage to hold the 'Dores scoreless
for the better part of the final period after being given a 7-point lead
by the offense. Starring for the Commodores was sophomore FB Carlos
Thomas, who rushed for 171 yards on just 18 carries. RB Al Baker ran for
2 TD's and 151 yards to lead the 'Cats. Vanderbilt has not won a conference
road game since 1984.

OLE MISS was idle.

MISSISSIPPI STATE (4-5) over Memphis State (4-5-1), 27-23: The visiting
                                                            Bulldogs broke
a 21-21 tie with seven minutes remaining in the 4th quarter when QB Tony
Shell connected with RB Kenny Roberts for a 71-yard TD. Roberts had 203
yards total offense in the game, including 127 on the ground.

TENNESSEE (5-2-2) fell to Notre Dame (8-1), 34-29: The hosting Vols outgained
                                                    the Irish 516 yards to
418 on the afternoon, but were done in by two late interceptions. The second
came with under a minute remaining and Tennessee driving at the Notre Dame
20 yard line. CB Rod Smith stepped in front of Andy Kelley's pass
(intended for SE Carl Pickens) to seal the win. The Irish had moved the
ball effectively on the ground against the middle of the Vol defense most
of the game, rolling up 316 yards rushing. The home team countered with
effective passing, with 60 attempts yielding 35 completions and 399 yards.
Heisman candidate "Rocket" Ismail was held in check by the Vols until
3:13 remained in the game. At that point he took a simple sweep around right
end for a blazing 44-yard touchdown and what proved to be the winning points.

.101 two. I've said it for the last 8 years, he s*cks....

He sucks because his players couldn't tackle? Sure! I think Minor
has done an excellent job with what the cards have dealed him...a bunch
of tailbacks lost...drugs..suspension...But you are right on one thing
about Sat.'s game...The Bowels couldn't tackle SH*T! That was their
    down fall.

Great game Saturday with the Vols coming up short. The big plays
killed Tennessee, but they have all year. The UT/Miss. game decides
the Sugar bowl this weekend. The winner goes to the Sugar and the
loser will probably go to the Fiesta. It could be a close game if the
Vols are still down after the big losss, but I am will pick the Vols by
    7.

ALABAMA (5-4) hosts Cincinatti (1-9) in B'ham: The Crimson Tide have finally
						found some winning ways
with a dominating defense and an offense which still doesn't look as
good at its best as it did at its worst last season, but does manage
to score with some regularity. Still, if the offense has achieved
"regularity" in recent weeks, the Bearcat defense should provide a
positively Ex-Lax like effect. Against decent competition in their
last 4 games, they've given up and average of 54 points. I'll call
the 'Bama offense a bit below average and guess: Alabama 48-0.
LINE: Alabama -38

AUBURN (6-2-1) hosts GEORGIA (4-5): The Bulldogs and Tigers couldn't
have picked a better time to bump
into each other: after combining for an 0-4 showing in the last two
weeks, they're both in need of a win. Georgia's defense has had a devil
of a time stopping anyone this season, and Auburn's offense has had
as much trouble moving the ball on anyone, so something has to give.
I expect it to be the Bulldog defense, but only a little bit: Auburn 17-14.

FLORIDA (8-1) visits KENTUCKY (4-5): The Gators take their demolition
show on the road this week to take
on and improving Kentucky squad which has already picked up its most
SEC wins (3) since 1984. The Wildcats have been tough at home this season
(4-1), but haven't played a team close to Florida in ability. It's hard
to imagine anything but a runaway for the visitors in this one, but
every now and then a Bill Curry team can surprise you. Not this week:
Florida 41-17.
LINE: Florida -19
[WTBS, 12:30 PM EST]

LSU (4-5) visits MISSISSIPPI STATE (4-5) in Jackson: The Bayou Bengals are
						      still holding on to
slim bowl hopes in the event that Baylor falls to Rice. They'd better
be worrying about the Bulldogs rather the bowls, however, or they could
end up 0-for-Mississippi for the first time in recent memory. While the
Tigers have been fairly irratic on both sides of the ball, the 'Dogs
have been consistently good on defense but very poor on offense. In their
favor, however, is LSU road record this year - 4 losses by an average score
of 31-9. I'll go with the home team in a toss-up: MSU 21-20.
LINE: Mississippi State -3

OLE MISS (8-1) hosts TENNESSEE (5-2-2) in Memphis: The Sugar Bowl is on the
						    line in this contest for
the first time in years. Ole Miss has had two weeks to prepare for this
one, so they should be ready for the visitors. Tennessee had a chance
to be a spoiler for the Irish last weekend, but crucial mistakes by QB
Andy Kelley and porous rushing defense kept it just out of reach. The
ground assault continues this weekend, with arguably the SEC's best
all-around back (Randy Baldwin) in the lead. The Rebels led by a point
going into the 4th quarter last year, but were run roughshod over by
RB Chuck Webb in the end. Webb is gone, and so is the Vols' psychological
edge, so I'll throw logic out the window and guess that emotion carries
the day: Ole Miss 28-27.
LINE: Tennessee -12
[CBS, 3:30 PM EST]

VANDERBILT (1-7) hosts Army (4-5): The battle of the archaic offenses
				    commences in Nashville Saturday as
two of the last remaining wishbone teams square off. Vanderbilt has only
one win to show for several strong offensive showings this year, and that's
because of a very poor rushing defense. Maybe each team will score every
time it has the ball. I'll stick with Commodores at home, where they've
been tough all year: Vanderbilt 35-24.

I was 4-2 picking winners and against the spread last week, bringing my
season totals to 45-13-2 (winners) and 26-27 (ATS).
