Conference 7.286::red_sox

    
    	Yesterday Trot and Shawn played on the same field in an A squad
    game.  Trot, as most of you already know, has been playing alot
    with the BIG BOY during spring training...being on the 40 man roster
    helps I guess.  Shawn and Trot apparently got into the game 'bout the
    same time (i.e. they both had 2 AB's).  I'm very happy to report
    that Shawn went 2 fer 2...both of 'em 1B's...one off Mike Maddox
    and the other off Mark Mimbs.  To add to that he made a run in the
    bottom of the 10th, and more impressively he knocked down a line
    drive which would have scored the winning run in the top of the 9th.
    Because of that they went into extra innings, but the Sox got 3
    more runs to only 1 Ranger run (Shawn's) in the 10th.
    	Shawn wanted me to ask if any of you BoSox fans know if the
    game was televised, and if so, would you know where to get a copy
    of the game (i.e. TV station or maybe one of you)?  I know one
    very excited young man who would be delighted to get his mits on
    a copy!!!!!!!

	Gee Ed.... I don't know if it was televised here or not. Had I known
your son was playing I would have watched the highlights a bit more. 

	I'm not sure if it was on TV live, but I did see the end of the
	game last night on NESN. Shawn made 2 pretty nice defensive
	plays, but the one where he dove to his left was a foul ball.
	When I heard his name, it took me a few seconds to remember where
	I had heard about a young Ranger 1st baseman named Gallagher.
	He looked pretty comfortable at the plate.

    Ed you must be incredibly excited!  I think I know a long way to get to
    the tape.  The Red Sox media outlets should be able to help you out.
    I believe radio is WEEI and TV is channel 68.  I'd take a stab at the
    web to find them ... www.weei.com and www.?.com  (what are 68s call
    letters?).  They should know who did the actual filmimg if it was done.

    In the past I've chased down original photographs of pictures in
    newspapers and people were surprisingly helpful.  Hopefully the
    experience will follow to your hunt for the tape.

    My Dad was at that game yesterday... I'll have to ask him if he was

.62 said it was on NESN, not WABU (which I think only has 1 or so games a week
during the spring).  NESN has a home page at the obvious www.nesn.com.

	Yea...it was definitely NESN, but again, it was not live.
	What was interesting was that Kurtz (is that his name?)
	kept saying they were sorry for having no picture because
	they were switching satelite feeds or some such thing.
	All the while, I had a picture. I guess that's the only
	advantage to watching a game from a tape :)

    	Are you saying that you watched a replayed taped version of the
    game later on yesterday on NESN (I assuming that's a TV station up
    there)?  If that's the case we'll just give them a call for a
    copy of the game.  I tried the www.nesn.com web site, and didn't
    find anything on the game at all.  There is, however, a fairly
    good write up of the game on www.weei.com.  From the WEEI web site
    spring training game recap, I'm assuming the TV coverage was on 
    NESN and the radio coverage was on WEEI.  Am I quick or what?!?!?!

Yes, Ed, NESN is a cable-only channel in these parts.  They broadcast ~half
the regular season Red Sox games.  I think they do a similar thing with the
Bruins and (Celtics???).  The rest of the time they show "Beach Babes
Volleyball" or "Monster Truck Demolition Derby" or some such garbage. :-)
