I was born and live in Kobe, a port city which I belive one of Japan's 
jazz cradles, now might be famous for its earthquake disaster in 1995.

I'm a very late comer to this conference.:-)  My taste to music was 
started from rock music as like many of you, but I have been always going
back to its roots, hard, progressive, art, rock'n'roll, Motown, 
Atlantic, soul, gospel, R&B, jump, boogie woogie, blues, and finnaly I 
landed in jazz.  It must be difficut to go back more than jazz because 
of lack of recording materials. So this place might be the final 
destination of my musical journey or I could go down from here to 
another branch of American music like modern jazz.

As I said above my interest to jazz comes from blues. So now I'm 
addicted to Kansas City Jazz, although I've been to the famous Preservation 
Hall in New Orleans in 1993. 

I'd like to hear a lot about Count Basie, "Hot Lips" Page, Bennie Moten,
Jay McShann, King Oliver, Andy Kirk, Mary Lou Wiliiams, Cab Calloway, 
Duke Ellington, James P. Johnson...
