    After reading this entire (amazing) string, my thoughts would be that
    if you're on the street, you should be able to buy a gun with no
    hassles.  I believe this because
    
    	- No bad guy will play by any gun laws anyway.  They will never
          even bother going into a gun shop to try and buy one.  They'll 
          just wait for the right moment to steal someone else's gun. 
          Really, how many bad guys spend Saturday mornings trying to 
          convince the local police chief that they deserve a LTC?
       
        - Bad guys who can't be trusted with a gun belong in jail in the 
          first place.  Life means life, 10 years means 10 years.
    
        - *Any* system that tries to keep guns out of the hands of the bad
          guys will instead keep guns out of the hand of the good guys.
    
    Gun control in a free society is hopeless. Rather, the founding
    fathers believed that armed citizens are in fact *necessary* for a free
    society to prevent government from taking control of the citizens.
    
    What the founding fathers did *not* expect is that we would let bad
    guys out of jail because the prison's cable TV went out.  8-)
