I have to admit that sweets are my weakness too. This valentines day
was the worst. My wife knows I love chocolate covered cherrys so she
gave me a big heart with nothing but, a small box of a different type
and a box of cherry jubilee thins from Andes. Sigh These cherry
jubilees have 13 grams of fat per 8 and there are 4 servings.
sigh....I might just pig out eat them all today and stop worrying about
the bloody things.
What do you think, is it better to eat the whole thing in one shot or
space it out?

| Brian,,,
Been there--done that....
I had a box of 8 truffles during xmas. I demo'd the box in 2 days!
The thought of keeping them longer made it feel like it would
take that much longer to get them out of my system,,, so I decided
to put myself out of my misery.
The box had a mix of dark choc, milk choc and white choc, with
chocolate centers...

| Another vote for chocolate. And it seems that there's always an occasion to be
celibrated using chocolate. Currently it's girl scout cookie season. Thin
mints are my specality; the way I eat them, they come two servings per box.

| Ahh Roak
I hate to admit it, but you hit my second weakness, cookies and milk,
actually just homemade chocolate chip cookies with a quart of ice cold
skim milk. Thats heaven. The good thing about this weakness is if I
never make them, I don't have to eat them right!!!
Shannon I always wondered if you eat an excess of fat in one day, I
mean really an excess like 180 grams do you just pass the bulk off or
does it immediately turn to fat? I mean a bing like that is it worse
to do this once in a great while like valentines day or do you
metabolize the fat and negate its effect if strung out over time in
small increments say 13 grams a shot? work with me here do I finish
off this box of cherry jubilees now or keep eating 8 each day?

| Brian, I don't know... Isn't it kinda the same as turkey day?
Think of all that food and how much everyone consumes. We might
have to work a little harder to take of the quick gain. but heck,
we survive. :)
If it would make you feel any better, I'll gladly stop by and
help you eat the jubilees. I'll be in the Littleton area tomorrow
anyways... That way you'll only be eatting have of those
nasty lil fat grams... :)

| Re: <<< Note 1317.4 by DELNI::OTA >>>
Hardly scientific, but it has appeared in the past that I gain less weight if I
just put down hundreds of grams of fat in one sitting vs. spreading out the fat
intake over days or weeks.
My taste buds certainly like it better!

| I was just thinking about how I let my healthy diet slip last night
when I had a bowl of chocolate fudge ice cream with chocolate sauce on top.
So, I though I'd go over to the Flex conference where everyone is concerned
about their health and that would pump me up so that I would have the courage
to refuse the goodies around our house. So, the first thing I read is about
all the decadent foods that everyone craves.
I have to admit, I have a soft spot in my heart for cookies and ice cream,
especially when dark chocolate is included in the mix.
Now, reading this has made me hungry and all I have in my office is a
bag of rice cakes...

| It's funny how you never hear of someone saying...TOFU...Gawd I love
TOFU!!!
It is most important to have our "treats" once in a while. Think of'em
as rewards for your hard training all week. Indulge in control!

1317.11 | Tofu! And Godiva... | HOTLNE::CORMIER | | Tue Feb 18 1997 09:43 | 22 |
| OK, I'll be the one and only to say TOFU! But, I'm a vegetarian, so it
really is one of my favorites. You can make cheesecake out of it,
lasagna, chocolate mousse, it's really amazing! But that's not really
what you want to hear...
However, my really absolute favorite is chocolate. Godiva. I'm not
going to eat Nestle or Hershey. Yuck. If I'm going to eat it, it
is going to be the good stuff. Godivas have only 11 grams of fat per
serving, and a serving is a generous 3 pieces! They are very rich, and
3 seems to be more than enough for me. So, 11 grams of fat isn't
really a whole lot of decadence. Not when you are a veg, anyway. I
have trouble putting fat INTO my diet.
Fat turns to fat, no two ways about it. If you eat it slowly, over the
course of a couple of days, or if you eat it all in one sitting it
doesn't really matter. You have to yank it out of storage and convert
it, regardless of how many days it takes you to put it INTO storage. I
think psychologically it's easier to just eat it all and be done with
it. If you space it out, you may be tempted to let it become a habit,
and replenish the supply.
However, have any of you tried the Snackwell's chocolate yogurt? If you
need a fix, but don't need the fat, try it! It just might tame that
chocolate beast. And it's got protein : )

addict, I can't seem to get a taste for diet soda. 10 or 12 glasses of soda a
day is a lot of empty calories. After March 1st it's diet soda only, hope i can
last.

used to work in them he drank at least 3 or 4 litres of Coke a day !!!
He doesn't need to get up early in the morning, so his girlfriend

a few Marlboro lights !!!!!

10-12 DIET cokes a day is NOT what you want to do. Aspartame in that
quantity has a, um, how shall we say 'laxative' effect ; )

| not too mention that aspartame has a side effect in some people: too much will
cause one to crave more regular sweets, so it may be purpose defeatful. 10-12
glasses a day??? seriously, rich- do more water! it's better for you.

don't crave anything sweet, including chocolate. Weird huh? But it's
hard to eat the tuna without the mayo and the turkey sandwich with no
cheese is impossible. With my love for cheese (and that's exactly what
it is, LOVE!) comes the constant craving of PIZZA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are not alone Eric, I don't like sweets either, but I do like
cheese alot!
However, my greatest weakness is B E E R! (must be the german in me...)
I do eat alot of veggies and fruit, drink water and milk. I don't
have the healthiest diet, but I think it is pretty good. But I am a
sucker for beer. You'd never know it though to look at me, 6'3",
185/190lbs. I've been wearing 32x36 jeans since highschool. I am
now 32. My wife-to-be (getting married in May) laughs at me and tells
me she gains weight just watching me eat and drink. 8^)

| Oh, yeah. Forgot that one. Far above and beyond all, my weakness is
beer. I think I've actually blocked it out of my mind that it actually
is a weakness. And it's not light beer either. I have to have beer of
the Sam Adams, Pete's Wicked, Bass variety. At least 300 calories
each, gotta be. And after a night of about ten or so, let's see
that's...
Nevermind, I don't wanna think about it!!!

Yup, cheese. Mix it with a good Chili (and my wife makes a killer
chili), some of those Frito dip-sized corn chips, and goodbye to all
the effort expended on 300+ crunches. White-sauce Italian dishes
probably come a close second. Homemade spaghetti would be third (not
too bad, but too much goes a looong way). Being on the road has had
advantages over the past 5 years; they only serve you SO much at the
restaurants!
Started a new job 3/10, so I get to fight with home cooking and few
limits at home. I guess I'll have to start using the measuring cups
for portions again, walking my a** off AND doing the crunches. Looks
like the 4AM wake-up just got a little earlier...

Reg, to paraphrase Charlie Brown, "Auuuuuugh!!!!" No, it won't be the
first, nor the last, but at least you didn't spell it incorrectly...
Messing with folks seems to have become SOP for me. So far this week,
I've managed to get at least two folks laughing so hard that we were
worried about them stroking-out (funny, I don't usually see people turn
THAT color). Yeah, I admit, a different type of "messing folks up..."
