| I know that this is a "depends on how fast you are pedaling question"
but I got a new bike over the weekend and started out with 15 minutes.
I was shocked to read that I had rode 8 miles in 15 minutes. I'm not
sore either today and I thought I would be dying.
My exercise/diet routine has scheduled 30 minutes rides every other
day. I'm thinking that I could perhaps ride at least 15 miles for 30
minutes if the mileage gauge is right.
Is this normal?
Thanks..

Your right it depends on how fast you pedal. Instead you should
probably work on getting your heart rate to say in the max cycle for
the 15 minutes rather than what milage your pedaling. I know some
folks in here have a wonderful chart that tells you for age etc, what the
optimum heartrates should be. If you ask them, maybe they could tell
you.

| Hi, CJ:
For stationary bikes, I tend to ignore the odometer. My father has a
Tunturi stationary bike with no electronics on it. It's your basic
stationary bike. When I use it, I watch the odometer spin away, at an
unbelievable rate. So, you're right to question the odometer on your
bike. At 8 miles in 15 minutes, you'd be going 32 miles an hour.
That's pretty unrealistic.
So, ignore the odometer. 8)
PS. Some of the electronic stationary bikes (like the high-end
lifecycle) are a bit more accurate about your actual speed and
distance.
