I was reading in a 25 year old antenna book (from 73 mag) about an antenna often used (then?) in commercial applications. Something about a "mumble pylon" antenna. It is like a cylinder with a vertical split along a seam, and two inward folding plates whose distance apart formed a capacitor. Supposed to have some gain also. Although it may have a greater diameter than a small pipe, it looks like it couldn't be more simple than rolling a sheet of aluminum or copper sheeting and soldering at the right place. Then use a cable wrap tie to adjust the spacing of the cylinder gap and thus the plate distance. Does anyone have any further info/details/notes? 73, ERIC K1NUN |
