1697.0. "DECXXX 90 power supply cheat sheet" by SWAM2::JACOMB_SC (I know enough to be dangerous!!) Wed Nov 16 1994 12:06

    Could someone put together a cheat sheet to indicate which power supply
    works on each of the 90 modules? I hate (make that dislike very much)
    looking up which power supply to use when grabbing a hub based module
    and trying to use it standalone. anyone else experience the same
    frustration? I know that there are only 3 different power supplies and
    that most of the modules use the same one.

    My "cheat sheet" is this...

    Does the 90 module have an AUI port?

    Yes -->> use the 12v/5v power supply (the bigger one)
    No -->> use the 5v only power supply (the smaller one)

    This is not guaranteed to work in all cases, but it works for me
    99% of the time when I run back to the storeroom without docs.

Those rules are OK, just add that the DECagent 90 also needs the 12V power
supply (even though it does not have an AUI port).

1697.3Network Design Tool has some power smartsNETCAD::BRAGDONFri Nov 18 1994 10:3711
    The next version of NETdesign (V1.5) has DEChub90 and 900 power supply
    calculations built into the bill-of-material. The BOM is extracted
    from a network design and includes power supplies (using N + 1).
    See Notes file KALI::OPEN_DECCONNECT Note 3.0 OPEN DECconnect Network
    Design Tool. V1.5 should be out of QA Testing (DECstandar 134 Cert
    LAB) by the end of November, and ready for distribution soon after.

    I'll be on vacation for 10 days, but you can reach Joseph Burnett
    KALI::BURNETT DTN: 226-6908 with questions.

SUBJECT:

DEChub 90 component's, and standalone power supply table

DESCRIPTION:

There are two power supply units for standalone use by components of the
DEChub 90. The H7082-AA supplies only 5v, while the H7827-AA supplies
both 5v and 12v. It will supply the 12v required by the components with
fiber and/or an AUI port.

Some documentation has the H7082-AA power supply listed for components that
require 12v. Below is a table matching components to their proper power
supply. As a general rule, if the component has an AUI port or a fiber
connection, then it requires the 12v H7827-AA power supply.

Note the three variants of the DECbrouter, DEWB1, DEWB2, and DEWBR
require the H7827-BA which supplies 1.8A rather than the 1.5A of the
H7082-AA power supply. Note the unit does not require 12v and is not
limited to slots 7 or 8 as are units with an AUI port that do require 12v.

The DEChub 90 Ethernet Backplane, DEHUB, has its own power supply, H7876-AA.

NOTE: Units are not useable with the wrong power

Re:4

I found some discrepancies in this list and have added the Appix list for the
three powersupplies.
The discrepancies I noticed were:
		DEFMR : uses H7082-AA or AB instead of the H7827-AA
		DERMN : uses H7827-BA instead of the H7827-AA

Hope this is of use.

1697.7More with the power supplies thing....CGOOA::PITULEYAin't technology wonderful?Wed Jul 05 1995 16:2114
    This isn't quite in the same vein as the base note but.......

    We have a customer in Canada that is supplying some DEChub 90 modules
    for stand-alone use in Korea. The question we need answered is: What
    type of plug comes on the H7082-AB? Is it a completely different unit
    from the H7082-AA in that it doesn't have the plug molded into the
    unit? Is the country kit for this power supply just a different power
    cord?

    TIA for your speedy replies....

1697.8A quick answer....CGOOA::PITULEYAin't technology wonderful?Wed Jul 05 1995 16:3629
    Well, I went over to the District Support guys, and they showed me the
    following.......

 The single voltage supplies have two variations. The H7082-AA is intended
    for/120V use only and doesn't require a power cord. Instead, it plugs
    directly
    into a standard US Style three prong electrical outlet. The H7082-AB
    is a
    universal supply and operates at 100-240VAC 50/60Hz, using a removable
    power
    cord with an IEC style onnector.

    Part Number DC Output Specifications AC Input
    -----------  ------------------------       --------
    H7082-AA     +5.1V @1.8A                    100-120VAC Only No Power
    Cord
    H7082-AB     +5.1V @1.8A                    100-240VAC Removeable Power
    Cord

    This quite nicely answers my question...
