814.0. "Demo PacketProbe ?" by LEMAN::CHEVAUX (Patrick Chevaux @GEO, DTN 821-4150) Thu Mar 10 1994 12:55

Please forgive me if this has been answered elsewhere.

Besides a DH900 is there a DECpacketprobe90 on the network that we can
    demonstrate remotely ?

I have the NAT RMON NMS running on a PC (16.184.64.25)

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Patrick,

    	There's a probe in LKG2-2. It's address is 16.20.216.167.

Thom, I've been using it succesfully across the net for the last 12 hours
    Very effective demo.

    - I could only get the RMON HISTORY group working, but that's OK for
      demoing RMON and remote XLAN
    - Traffic is very low: utilization in the 1-2% range, multicasts in the
      120 per second

Sounds like a PacketProbe installed in a typical floor SER with mostly
    LAT users ...

Thanks again. Please keep it alive. Patrick

I can ping it. But I could not get anything more. History does not
    display. I'll keep trying.

My guess is that the network delay may be too high for the NMS
    software.

    Thanks Roger.

I can't help with any further details about the probe. I've had this one in my
hub for DECagent 90 development purposes (basically for autodiscovery). It is
supposedly running the latest firmware and is on the network. Beyond that, I
don't know how it's configured.

I realize that just being able to ping it doesn't help much (yup, the ICMP code
must be working! :-) ). I'll poke around to see if I can get it to be more
"available" from a ProbeWatch standpoint.
