I've been contemplating this and now with Meep, the Maine Coon saga, and now to top the bill the kitty in California leads me to something. Everyone would like to help in someway and of course there are so many different ways to do that. We have thrown this out in the air before and I think now is the time to throw it out again. With all the little ones that our co-workers post seeking homes for a lot of times the alternative is their local humane society or pound. In essence they are buying time hoping that this notesfile will work and many times it does. Other times it doesn't. The basic idea I guess is maybe if there were some noters that would like to be foster homes for the ones that definitely have to go we could at least place some somewhere and still of course keep pushing them for homes. The best humane societies in the area rely on foster home networks to do just this however there simply are not enough of them to go around. With this notesfile alone they would have run out of foster homes by now :^) It's an idea and will stay as an idea unless there are people that have the capabilities and the type of personality it takes to be a foster home. I'm sure there are some of you that have thought of something along the same lines or probably even have a better idea. Let's see if we can put our heads (and fingers) together and think up something that is workeable. kim

Since I am the owner of Meep, I think you have a great Idea. If anyone out there wants to provide the foster service, as I've said before, I'll be happy to provide the cat half of the deal. Someone in a recent note entry commented on being cautious with "placment agencies" that simply dump the cats on shelters after collecting a fee from the unhappy ex-cat owners. Needless to say, this makes the option of putting my cat in an adoption agents hands even less appetizing to my already strained emotional state. If the suggestion of .0 could be turned into reality, I would be much happier placing the animal with someone that wasn't running a "factory". Besides, there is always the chance that once the foster parents have the cat, they will find that they don't want to part with it after all!

There is a wonderful adoption agency in Albany, NY. They don't ever take your pet...They connect people for a small donation. (The Pet Exchange) This is how my guinnea pigs were adopted...I miss the little buggers... But, boy did they smell!
