| I was thinking about this more just recently because of the reports of
fighting along the Peru/Ecuador border. I was tryong to count how many
hot spots there were and it dawned on me that there are a lot of really
p.o.'d people in the world. I know history is riddled with armed
conflict, I just was wondering who is shooting at who(m?) these days.

| Peru also still has the Shining Path guerilla operation going on, as
well as the border skirmish.
Columbia has several small turf wars going on, as well as a peasant
revolt over the US war on some drugs.
There is an indiginous people of the rain forest vs miner war in
Brazil, as well as the war on street children in Rio.
In the US we have a war on poor people.

| >Peru also still has the Shining Path guerilla operation going on,
well, not much, actually. Their guru (Guzman, ex-college prof) was
captured about 2 years ago, and the army has since driven them pretty
much out of sight, per most news reports. One news report even
speculated that with Shining Path defeated, the army may be responsible
for these border problems with Ecuador, to justify their continued high
defense expenditures.

Can any of us envision "world peace"? Will there ever come a time
when ther's no more starvation, war, hatred or disease? Or is this
concept science fiction?

Sure, most of us envision world peace but having never experienced
such a thing its only a fantasy. How would you think that world peace
might affect you anyway?
There will never come a time on this planet when such things desist.
The concept is based upon desire, nothing more or less.
Christianity promises that such an era will exist in the future. Not
only that but God Himself will dwell in the midst of the elect. Its
beyond sublime to contemplate.

After years of little fights and raids they decided to meet for a big,
decisive battle.
Actually, neither side showed up, because they were too much afraid of
getting beaten up by their opponents.
