    I give her use of "my" credit card with a certain $ limit and she lets
    her fingers do the walking at LLB or EB or one of the mail order
    rags...only problem is I still have to wrap the gifts when they
    arrive...I told her I'd spring to have them gift-wrap it  :-)

    etc., etc.  Little boxes are a fetish of mine.

    	(candlelight, of course.  Soft music.  Her favorite wine.  Dance with 
    	her between courses.)  Draw her bubble bath and let her soak while 
    	you clean up from dinner.  Get the fireplace roaring by the time
    	the bath is done.  Spend time in front of the fire with her. 
    	Propose a toast to her and finish up whatever wine was leftover
    	from dinner.  Give her a backrub.  Let your imagination run.
    
    	Or if that's too sappy, just a gift certificate booklet for
    	you to do some number of household chores that she usually gets 
    	stuck with.

    Got this great bridge... Its not in New York. Its in Boston. The Tobin
    Bridge! Its getting nonfunctional with each passing year! Its expensive
    too! Gotta pay a toll to cross it!;) Someday, some rich person is going

    Just be sure that, whatever you get her, it's something she wouldn't
    have the time/money/impracticality/whatever to buy for herself.  I
    always love a gift that formerly had a "I wish I could afford..." or a
    "I just don't have time to..." in front of it!
    
    And, if all else fails, get a gift certificate to her favorite clothing

    Screw DeBeers, I'll never buy a diamond again in my life.  I bought
    my wife a leather jacket with that fringey stuff on it.  Oh-err, she's
    me little cowgirl. 

    My wife was totally surprised with the two "unknown gifts" I gave her
    and she was nonplussed that I went to a Mall at 10PM to buy 'em!

    wrenches, a set of pliers, a tape measurer, and a pretty blue toolbox
    to keep them all in.

    a piece of advice on tools. make sure they are made of forged steel and
    made in the US. if not, you can bend the end of tools, like

    Actually, some fine tools also come out of Britain, Western Europe,
    Japan, and even Canada.  The Chinese stuff, however, is made from
    assorted scrap metals, and performs much as Gene described.

    and gene, to be honest with you, i don't know EXACTLY where they were
    made, but with the execption of the electric screwdriver, which is a
    b&d, all the tools are 'craftsman'...my hunnie takes care of me... :>
    
    

    Craftsman tools are no longer completely made in the USA, but they do
    have a lifetime warranty, so it really doesn't matter all that much.
    
    I know someone who used to buy Craftsman snow shovels... snow shovels
    always break... so they'd bring them back and always got a new one
    free.

    Actually, there were two that he really liked, and he 
    couldn't decide which one to get, so he got me BOTH!!! :*)
    One is XOXOXO all the way around.  The X is gold, the O 
    is diamond, and the other is all amethysts set in gold.
