Conference brat::wedding

    Not sure if there is info on this anyplace else in this conference.  If
    so, please direct me to it!  If not, it was briefly addressed in note
    48.49.  Someone I know is thinking of having an outdoor wedding this 
    summer and wants a priest who will marry them outside the church (by
    that I mean the location, not the religion).  Someone said that priests
    may not be willing to do this.  Is it still a problem or has the church
    loosened up a bit on this?

    The Catholic Church just came out with a statement that Priests could
    not marry people at Disney World because it was not a church.  I
    believe that the Catholic Church is still very strict about this.
    
    

    As far as I know, .177 has it right.  Priests are still NOT ALLOWED
    to perform the sacrament of marriage anywhere outside a church.  I've
    been told that part of the reasoning behind this is because if it were
    allowed, then priests would be asked to perform marriages anywhere, and
    with the shortage of priests that currently exists in the Catholic
    church, they simply couldn't handle such a demand.  Therefore, by
    restricting people to marrying IN a Catholic church by a priest, they
    are certainly limiting the numbers of people to those who "understand
    the sacrament and truly want to be married Catholic."  I'm sure there
    are other theological reasons as well.
    
    As beautiful as it sounds to be married outside, if you want to be
    married Catholic, it must be in a church.
