   I don't think it's possible for a songwriter to come out with a heavy

      Yea, though I crave the metal, I also crave the feel of dancing
      with a good woman to a HM ballad, so here are a few to cause 
      friction between the metal women and men.
    
      Lights - Journey (early HM ballad?)
      Alone Again - none other than rokken Dokken
      Is this Love - Whitesnake (pop HM ballad)
      Her Love - 2EZ (even though I haven't danced to it yet)
      
      I know it's hard to believe, but yes it has happened
      my mind has drawn a blank. All I can think of is all
      those HM babes I've loved before. (catchy line, think
      it will sell. HA!)
      

    Another fav that i spaced has gotta be "Love Walks In" by Van Hagar,
    Too bad old Van Halen never really tried a ballad.

    I especially enjoy the Made in Japan live version.  Some killer
    guitar work, and that classic Jon Lord keyboard sound.  I wish some
    of the newer keyboard players would take a lesson from him and stop
    using that over processed MIDI sound.  Too bad the Hammonds are

    	years ago, about 82 or 83 is when I first heard it but I think
    	the name of the tune was "Morning Dew" or "Take Me out to the
    	Morning Dew". This is an excellent ballad but I have'nt heard
    	it since I'came from Arizona. And if you know which one I'm
    	talking about, which album is it on? Thanx!

    I don't think this topic has been brought up yet but I've always
    had this knack for mellow songs done by heavy metal bands.  I like
    the way they can really blow the power into a song.  Here is a list

    It's wicked sad, I heard the lead singer wrote it for his real-

Thanx Shawn. I think I'm gonna have to pick this up - that's two songs off 
that album I like!

"Fly High Michelle" is a beautiful song, written by the guitarist for
his girlfriend, who comitted suicide.  8^(

And on top of that, its a very well written song - the bridge between between 
the verses and chorus is *very* well done! These guys know their way around 
songwriting!

    song Words Can't Say. I think that's the name of the song, anyhow I

      I really like 'More than Words'.  It's a style that one usually
    doesn't hear on WAAF, Z-Rock, or similar radio formats.  I really
    respect them for writing music like that, or a Sinatra-like song,
    'When I First Kissed You'.
    
      Another good ballad on Pornograffitti is 'Song for Love'.  Hmm,
    I *think* that's the name of it. 8^)  More of a 'power ballad',
    like other ballads released as of late.

    Just about all I've listened to was bad commercial radio between
    Colorado and North Carolina.  I can't believe how many bad rock
    stations there are out there.  I even resorted to listening to the
    country stations, at least they played some music done in the last 5
    years.  Man, it was like attack of every bad song you can think of from
    the 70's!
    
    There was a cool college station out of Manhatten, Kansas that rooled. 
    Heard a LOT of great music from that one!

    tops for me. "Honestly" from "In God We Trust" is also up there.

    I hear ya Mike...Michael is more of the melodic style and I know for
    sure Oz is the raw metal man. You can tell in the music. Michael was
    playing the smooth melodic leads and Oz was playing the raw wild
    leads.They did incorporate the sounds tastefully as best they could
    though. But, Michael has a wider range of music ability especially on
    the ballards. I tend to lead toward that style myself--not in my lead
    playing but in my writing. I enjoy writing ballards more than anything.
    I think wherever each mite go they will still be successful. Can't wait
    til' I hear some of there stuff w/ there new bands. Thereis so much
    talent with these guys...
