    sigh.

Well Mike T. got it there, only to have had it dropped. The turning
point for me was the two goal line stands and the first INT that
should have been a Gentry completion.

    Good bye Danimal (Dan_Hampton).

Good season turned in. (And turned around from last season)

Bears have a way to go to be a con-ten-da, They need a better offensive
game plan, better defensive line, younger offensive lineman, and
for Jim Harbough to keep improving.

Looking forward to next year already.

Dan gave him a lot of information about how misdirection plays are
cheating... so just run the baw up the middle a few times when you get
near the goal line. Too bad..... Ditka evidently listened.

| | The BEAR guys! I love those guys...

    I haven't seen a pre-season game yet. My new cable company doesn't
even get TNT!!! No Sunday night Football at home (Doublesuck)

The news I heard from my latest BEAR_REPORT, is that the Bears will
be tossing the skin a bit more this year, remains to be seen...

And *I JUST KNOW* Tomczak will come out and haunt the MONSTERS this year
when we play the Packers, I just know it...

Oh, great football god (GFD), just give me some optimism this year...

A Chip_GSH_Bach breakdown for what we (Bear_Guys_Every_Where) need
    to see this year:

    1. Great play from either Jimmy Harbough or from Pete_Ted,
	um,
        Fred_Clark,
	uhh, no, thats not it,
	Willy_Petey, shoot.
	Uh, oh yeah,
	Peter Tom!

    2. Some (gonetothewelltooften) great play from the offensive line.

    3. The running game to keep track/pace with last year.

    4. A passing game.

    5. A healthy Secondary.

So basically, I'll go out on a limb and say, if the BEARS play good
defense in the secondary, and throw the ball more [and, most important,
better] the will take the Central Division, the Superbowl, and the Indy 500.

    (Football's sacred triple crown)

If not, they'll take the bus. (With Ditka driving)

Go_Bears, I LOVE it when it's this close to the REAL season...

Test #2, Bears '91, Bears survive...

Bears beat the defending SB champs in a 20 - 17 come from behind win.

Harbough is still on target, and ripped a 75 yard TD strike.

Butler kicked two FG's from medium range, as he seems to be improving
    from pre-season stinko.

The Bears fell behind in the 4th (17-13) after giving up 17 unanswered
points, then Neil Anderson dove in on a 35 yard run. He jumped from
the 5 yard marker and help the ball just over the pylon indicating a
    TD.

Have already head the Gint's fans talking up the "We should have won
and blown it post game "could of's", but the Bears looked like they
controlled the game, with the exception of the "D" letting up a bit
    in the touch down drives.

William Perry had blocked a 35 yard FG attempt as the clocked ticked
down to 00:00, negating a possible tie ballgame. The Bears did get
lucky with that FG, but kept themselves in the game the entire time
and drove for a touch down when they needed it in the 4th.

    Let's go BEARS!

With a couple of notable exceptions, the Bears were out-executed in the
second half.
The Bears deserved to win because they were obviously the better motivated
ball club.
There's some serious problems I think in the Giants organization, and the

| | Well, I had good seats any-how...

The first quarter was pretty sick. There were *maybe* two first downs
either way. The Bears special teams killed them early with average
field position at their own 19... Johnny Baily left his common sense
    at home.

Jim Harbough started out flat, so did The_Ryp.

Second quarter gave the Skins a 10-0 lead. The 'Skins wide out's were two
steps on the dbacks. There was no Bear pass rush.

The Bears drove well in the second half. Scored a TD from a solid
drive. They got the ball back and started to drive again until
Harbough threw a deflection pass for an INT. The Bears then held
the skins to a 4th and 4 situation and blew it with a defensive holding
call. The Skins (with good field position frm the INT and penalty)
    scored again.

The Bears couldn't make the play's when they needed them.

Thank goodness for a break next week. We need Riveria, Muster back.

| | Ah yes, NFL rivalries...

The local top-40 radios stations (Green Bay/Appleton) have their
quote "Bears Still Suck" unquote campain in full swing today. It
amazing how much the NorthEastern Wisconsin residents dislike anything
to do with Chicago. Wonder if the Packer-Bears rivalry has anything to
do with it. Anyway, they were talking about this game 2 weeks ago,
before the last game even. (Loss to Dallas)

Last year, 1 radio station had obtained T-shirts of the Simpson Baby
(name?) with the logo "Suck Suck Suck", and stenciled in "Bears Still".
They were giving the shirts away as free call-in prizes.

This year, the same station found some talking dolls spouting phrases
such as "Bears Suck, Bears Suck" and "Ditka Go Home". They demo-ed the
doll on the air repeatedly, and are giving those away this year.

It does make for amusing listening during the morning drive.

Personally I agree, but then I'm not a Packer fan.

The Packer faithfull are starting to get a bit nasty toward the team.
Makowski (?) is out of favor, and the media coverage of the losing
    streak seems to be intensifying.

No calls for Linfante's job, but I'm starting to wonder how off that
    may be. This is his 4th yr - 1 good year (10-6), 1 decent year (7-9 I
think), 1.5 diasters (3-13, 1-6), no playoff teams. The good year may
cary him a long ways though.

    .last night

The early whistle on the Bear punt reception muff was a very bad call.
But that's what you get from on-the-field refereeing. If you want a
better call, start using remote whistle monitoring. (Yuk, Yuk, I not

The Bears started off slow, but seemed to be in control the whole
game. Indy's firsted score was a result of a fuuuummbell. The Indy
Offense had a few good drives, but the Bears turned it up a notch

Thanks to team_San_Diego for beating the Saint's. The Bears would have

Take the Bears and the points.

Thats about it, other than Tom Waddle (The_Great_WAH-DELL<tm>) is
getting to be the new possesion man for Chicago, as Dennis Gentry
is getting older and may have only a few years left on his dance card.

Brad Muster had 101 yds and a great game. He is coming around like the

Neil Anderson didn't dress, but will be around for nexted week.

Man, it was just in the cards for div. leaders yesterday. The Bears
miss a 23 yard FG, then they make Miami use all their time outs under

Isn't the Jets game in Detroit? And I believe the Lions are 9-0 in a
dome, i.e. unbeaten at home. 1 win is pretty much given, 2 a good
    possibility, 3 a small miricle.

The Bears have the easier schedule and the tie break. So they *should*
    have the division title.

    away.

The Jets are in Detroit. I was not that impressed with the home Lions
team on Thanksgiving day. My upset guess would be a Jet victory.

Detroit could still win the NFC central, with a 1st round bye and home
field if they got hot, with an upset over Washington in the playoffs,
    Detroit could be a force.

still learning how to win. One of the extentions to that idea is that
they are a hot/cold team. Could be...

The Bears on the other hand are the exact opposites. They always seem
to be in the middle of things, year in and year out. Ditka really

You have a big disappointment heading your way! San Francisco has
nothing to lose. They are out of the playoff picture and this will be
their replacement playoff game / Superbowl. The 49ers would like to
prove they are one of the top teams this year even though they didn't
make the playoffs so expect them to beat the Bears!

Ditka coached team not being motivated. And heck, even if SF is
out, how can you NOT get up for the 'Niners? Also, you always want
to go into the playoffs on a roll. A loss in your last game is
not good.
So you guys go ahead and come up with reasons why one team will be
more fired up than the other. The way I see it, they'll both be
ready to play. The only edge I can give to SF is home-field advantage
and perhaps Ditka will play more of his subs than normal.

The Bears will not want to go into the playoffs flat, on the tail of
a loss, look what it's gonna do to the Raiders ;-).

There is no "pre-post-season" superbowl for these guys, they are
professionals, not kids. They know the season is in the dumper
but they will come out ready because they are professionals.

I think the Bears can handle San_Fran this year. The games they were
really beaten (Washington and @Buffalo) and two they pissed away
(@Detroit and that Miami fiasco) were against team with a better
record than San_Fran. (Miami may have the same record actually.)

I pick the Bears by at least ten. The offense (with Muster) is tickin'
well (albeit against the "BAYS", but Harbough looked good, as did the
Bears second and third string running backs.

Butler is my biggest worry. He is hurt and playing poorly. Ditka

SF is 5 point favorites this week. It should be a good game but
I expect the 49ers to do better than that (unless the SF QB's are limping
around due to injuries they have on their knee's).
IMO the Bears will not score more than 2 TD's if that! And that
should be more than enough for the 49ers with their passing attack!
Unless the Lions lose we should be seeing the Bears in a

NinerJihad rules to follow in notes, but...

Saying the Niners will beat the Bears without a Q.B. is going a little
overboard. The Bears are 11-4 this year and played a tougher schedule
then the 49reindeers, who didn't make the playoffs. I don't care how
well San_Fiasco has been playing (lately) they still have a sub-playoff
    record.

I would not say the Bears have no offense, either. It's just a time
chomping run oriented offense, not the glitz-ey run&poop or a pass
only. Harbough has good numbers this year, and the Bears have a good
    record.

The Bears won't win the first round of the playoffs cause they won't be
there. They'll be watching the 1st round on TeeVee (They will get the
    1st round bye).

The second round will be played in Chicago, and I think the Bears can
beat Dallas, Miami, Atlanta in a frozen Soldiers Field.

(I know they have a loss against the 'Phin there, but Man_Danreemo
    won't win two like that)

What a blow out!!!! 49ers just tore apart the Bears in every
possible way. It's lucky that the rest of the league doesn't have to
face the 49ers after seeing this game. They would have to be favorites
with Washington and Buffalo to win it all. such is life though we will
have to wait until next year to see how they perform.
Since the 49ers beat (a little light on the wording) Chicago they
will not play them next year and will face the Lions instead (who they
    also took apart this year).
From the 49ers side of it several of the players were talked to
and asked after the game why they crunched Chicago right until the end
of the game? They were supposedly motivated by a couple of the Bears
players (one of whom was said to have been Harbaugh) who had said that
"The 49ers were just a tune up game for the Bears upcoming playoffs".
There was also supposedly allot of talking by the Bears during the game
to the effect of the 49ers not making the playoffs (I think in the area
of not good enough to be there).
RE: -1 News conference by Ditka:
Mike was just a tad upset! He said the 49ers ran it up on his team
and I quote "What goes around comes around, What you sow so shall you
reap." He also said "I don't know how much longer I'll coach but I've
got a great memory, I proved it to the gray-haired guy."(referring to
the 49ers beating of the Bears 23 - 0 in the 1984 NFC Championship
game.) In 1985 the Bears came back and beat the 49ers 26 - 10. The big
reasons were when the 49ers used Guy McIntyre in the backfield in 1984
and the Bears then used William Perry in there backfield in 1985.
I don't think the 49ers are quaking in their boots to much this
morning! The earliest they could meet is in the playoffs next year if
    it works out that way.
As for the 49ers rebuttal to all this running up the score bit.
Seifert had his chance and said, That the 49ers were not running up the
score. The 49ers last 3 touchdowns were explainable according to
Seifert. One was the fumble return 99 yards for a touchdown, the next
one was an interception that ended up at the 2 yard line (which Young
ran in on his injured knee), and the third.....the third was not the
fault of the 49ers coaching staff. Musgrave decided he wanted to show
off how talented he was and decided to call an audible at the line of
scrimmage and threw a beautiful pass in for a touchdown! Young of course
was happy and had a very good game. He was laughing at Musgrave after
the game and told him that "Mike is going to love you"!
I know that won't make Ditka any happier but that's the reasons!
He'll just have to take it until they meet again. If he has any one
particular thing to be mad about it was his team getting kicked all
over the field the way they did. And I guess if he wants to he should
be made at the Rookie QB (who until last night hadn't thrown a pass in
the NFL). Personally by the look on the sidelines of Seifert he wasn't
too happy about Musgrave throwing that one. But he has to back the kid
up as he is a member of the 49ers.

The 49ers-Bears rivalry has been going on for a few years. It started
several years ago when Ditka was running up the score by having the
Fridge run in a TD. The 49ers ran the score up on the Bears a couple
years later, as a pay back, and Ditka was pi$$ed then too, and said
he'd get even. He just hasn't been able to make his actions follow his
words. Dierdork questioned passing the ball on 3rd and 25, which
seemed dumb to me. I will admit the long TD pass was rubbing it in,
    but it's only the Bears.

I've rooted for the Bears maybe 5 times in my life. They lose every
time, no wonder I don't like them.

To more avid Bear watchers- Is Richard Dent going down hill? The last
few games I've watched him, he's made a small impression, except that
he seems to be becoming a cheap shot artist. He was one of the few
    Bears I liked.

Its hard to say why the Bears are not dominating anymore, but I think
they are showing signs of age. Especially the Defense, Dent,
Singletary, McMichael (hampton is gone). These guys still make a
couple of key plays a game, but they used to make a half dozen each.
The Fridge is also little more than a plug for his position -tough to
run over - so you just run around him. And yes, Dent has been giving
out a few cheap shots recently.

I think the Bears will have a tough time of it in the next couple of
years, but I do give Ditka credit. He is a great coach and he gets all
he can from his players. The fake punt was a great call and almost
got the Bears back in it.

Firsted the 49er nongame. Bears defense didn't show, Young wanted his
job back. Just sick. Any chance the Bears had to contend died that
    night.

Just for some clarification, I believe the 84 niners ran some fat slob
defensive guy in a niner victory FIRST, then in '85 the Bears answered
with a Perry run. Perry did NOT run for a TD that game.

I guess Georgie wanted to pump the Bears up for their next Niner game.

Now the 49er game: Gimme one huge crow burger.

    Next: Dallas

I'm glad I wasn't noting last week. I would have sworn a Bear loss to
San_Fran like 30 to 14 would have deflated the Bears. I thought when
Georgie ran it up, the Bears would have come out smokin' against
    Dallas.

The poor coaching cost them this game. If they would have hit some
of those field goals, they would have won. 4th and one three times
for zero points. Just sucked. And why hand to Anderson? He hasn't
played well all year and Lewis was carrying 5 guys ten yards every time
    he touched the ball...

The fake punt was a great call, but a little to late.

They just didn't have the horses this year. This was something Ditka
said all year long. I agree with one of the previous noters, The Bears are
gonna hurt for the next few years. They need to draft up a entire
    defense.

    They could also use O-Linemen.

    Final Bears Report:

Coaching: Ditka took a bucnh of so-so players and played for 11 wins,
gave some good games to contenders (Washington, Detroit, New Orleans)
and got destroyed by Buffalo and San_Fran. I'll give Ditka and the
    boyz a B+.

Offense: Harbough played well this year. All heart and he is reacting
more as a real time QB. Still had some brain cramps (B-)

The offensive line was weak. C-

The crappy playcalling this year gets the big "D" for Ditka.

Defense seemed to fold when it needed to, for the corners and pass rush
    a big time D.

Butler was hurt most of the year, but I say you put him on injured
reserve and get someone else. He gets an F for the feild goals he
    couldn't "Muster".

Special teams killed the Bears this year. They single-handedly beat
the Bears against the Skins this year. D-

And my player-of-the-year award: Cincys very own Tom_Waddle (or the
    "Great_WAH-DELL" (tm).

Caint wait till nexted year. (Go Chiefs?)
