<<< WILBRY::ADMIN_UTIL:[NOTES$LIBRARY]RDB_50.NOTE;1 >>> -< DEC Rdb - Digital's Strategic Relational Database - on Alpha AXP >- ================================================================================ Note 10.22 Rdb & SQL Training 22 of 22 SIERAS::WALLIS "Barry Wallis, DTN 536-2060: Dreamer" 25 lines 23-AUG-1993 17:26 -< Any Rdb client / server courses available? >- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was at a customer who is trying to implement client / server solutions. They use Rdb currently, however, there is a group who is evaluating Sybase. They asked what courses I could recommend that deal with how to develop and implement client / server solutions with Rdb. They are currently using SQL/Services, but, they would certainly be interested in courses that dealt with ODBC. I mentioned three possibilities of how we could deliver the information: 1) Standard "off the shelf course" (if one exists) 2) Customized course 3) On-site consulting Any and all comments would be welcomed and appreciated. - Barry cross-posted in: RDB_50 RDB_VMS_COMPETITION SQL_SERVICES

1284.1 | How about FORTE' ? | HAN::DOERING | Gimme three steps, mista ! | Tue Aug 24 1993 11:11 | 8 |
When it is available (FT now, SSB early 94), DEC FORTE' is supposed to be an excellent tool for implementing distributed heterogenious client/server applications. FORTE V1 supports MS Windows, Motif & DEC Rdb (and many more...) For more information contact Prod.Mgr. Lance Simon (MTVIEW::SIMON) or notes conference SFBAY::FORTE. /Andreas
1284.2 | The focus is on what they currently have | SIERAS::WALLIS | Barry Wallis, DTN 536-2060: Dreamer...Owner...Doer | Tue Aug 24 1993 19:04 | 9 |
I'm sorry, I guess I didn't make myself clear :-( (I received some mail recommending other products also). This customer is trying to use SQL/Services and / or ODBC to do client / server processing. They may be interested in Desktop ACMS, Forte, DECmessageQ, RTR and other products in the future. For now they just want us to help them understand how to use what they have *already* purchased. - Barry

Barry, Something is being developed which partly covers this space - I got some details today. I suggest that you contact Holly Hendricks@ZKO for more information about the "Developing Open C/S Applications" course, slated for December. -Steve Simpson |
