| re. .0..... one way to find an Acct Manager's name
Assuming you know how to use VTX, go into ACCESS ($VTX ACCESS_US) and
select option 1 - Account Management - from the ACCESS main menu.
The Account Management menu points you to Account Managers and Account
Names.

I was the initial sales support rep on that account. I was pulled off
into other duties and the support rep was then TFSO'ed. I do not know
who the current support rep is, but I still know a fair bit about what
happened and what is going on over there.
The Sales Unit Manager is Mark Stockhowe. With all the reorganization
that has gone on in the office here in the past couple of month's, I am
not positive who the current account manager is. I believe it is Dave
Getsch.

I'm back in this notesfile again. As I pointed out the specific
reference solved my problem last time. Now I have a general question
(see note 50 for details) but first I'd like to comment on .1.
I just tried that. You get the message:
The AMID Account Manager and Account Name Directories have been
removed.
Are they are coming back or was there a good reason to remove them?

| The Account Managers and Account Name Directories were removed on
Thursday from VTX.
Why? The data was out-of-date and not reflecting the current account
structure.
Let me check with Sue to understand what online communication vehicle
we will use to disseminate this information.
Once the infobase has been updated, it will be put back online. When?
Stay tuned.

36.7 | HELP IDENTIFYING AMs | LESCOM::HADDAD | | Tue Dec 17 1991 11:02 | 14 |
| Does anyone know if there is a data base that contains the names
of Digital's Sales Account Managers, particularly for reseller
accounts? I have an ongoing need to identify Account Managers
whose resellers need to be invited to show their solutions at
various trade shows (e.g. work with Digital at UniForum).
I know that Bob Hughes has portfolios of named accounts, and I
know that U.S. Channels has some information on selected accounts,
but, nowhere can I identify a database that has all the accounts and
Account Managers.
Any help would be appreciated.

requirements and functional specifications.
Until they have completed their job, if you have any questions
regarding Account Managers and their teams, please call the Account
Management Information (AMI) Hotline at dtn: 264-0288 or (603)884-0288.
Thanks.

| Hank,
The database you are requesting in note 36.7 will be provided via
the "Account Directory" project now underway. The Account Directory
will be available via VTX with the next couple of months. The directory
will allow you to input customer name, customer code, or account AMID
number and receive back the responsible account manager or set manager
name and location. The business requirements as defined to date will be
displayed in this conference in the next couple of weeks for field
feedback. Please watch for it and respond as appropiate.

| The AMI hotline is to be used by Digital employees only. Who our
account managers are and what account they manage is company
confidential information. The best way to get info to our CSOs is
through their account managers. If you see a need to provide account
specific information to our CSOs, perhaps a newletter or some other
type of communication could be created for that purpose. For now,
please maintain our company's confidential information appropriately.

36.12 | Account Directory Infobase Requirements | BAHAMA::MCDONOUGH | | Mon Feb 10 1992 11:30 | 161 |
| The attached document outlines the preliminary requirements for
an Account Directory Infobase. This infobase would be available
under ACCESS and allow users to quickly locate the name of the Sales
Account Manager responsible for customers about whome they require
information.
If you have any questions or suggestions on the proposed application
please feel free to post them here or send mail to:
Annmarie McDonough @MKO
Donna Kumorek @MKO
Account Directory Preliminary Requirements Document
Executive Overview This document represents the compilation of recent
memos and discussions on the need for a Digital
Account Directory to be made available to all employees
via VTX. It is intended to generate feedback which
will in turn feed into a final requirements document
for an Account Directory V1.0 application.
The problem and technical requirements statements which
have been identified are by order of occurrence, not by
priority. The priority of these requirements for a
V1.0 application must be identified by the user base
with final approval by the business sponsor.
Further requirements and feedback on the entire document
will be gathered first from the attached distribution
list. Based on this feedback, a finalized document will
be published in the HAMSTR::US_SALES_SERVICES notes
file for final end user validation. The user validation
will be incorporated into a Business Requirements
Document to be prioritized in Sales Solutions Delivery
project queue.
Definitions Customer - The name associated with an individual
CLF customer id
Account - The name associated with a Digital Account
Management ID (AMID)
CLF Customer ID - Unique identifier assigned to a
customer by Digital
Customer location - Street or mailing address
associated with a customer ID
AMID - unique identifier assigned by DEC to a grouping
of individual customer IDs that Digital would like
to treat alike
Problem Statement Digital employees lack the ability to quickly locate
the name of the Sales Account Manager responsible for
customers about whom they require information.
Specifically:
- The Field Selling Teams need to know the name and
location of the person responsible for the overall
account plan for the customer for which they may or
would like to call. With 360,000 customer locations
assigned to 5500 accounts, the Sales force needs to
know who and what account their particular customer
location belongs.
- Secondarily, Account Managers should have the
capability to see the customer code breakdown by
customer location for their AMID to fully understand
their total responsibility nationally.
User Base The primary user base for this application is all
members of US Account Teams. The secondary user base
application is as all users of the ACCESS application
(which is classified as DIGITAL INTERNAL USE ONLY).
Technical
Requirements The technical requirements for the proposed
Statement Account Directory infobase are currently defined as:
- A quick lookup device which allows users to enter
either a customer or account name and get detail
information on the account including who within
Digital is responsible for the account.
NOTE: Lookup will assume the user entered an
account name. If no account name matches that entered
then it will be treated as a customer name.
- Detail information to be displayed for each account
consists of:
Customer/Account Name (User Entered)
Account Name (if user entered a customer name)
Account Number
Corporate Account Flag
Account Set Manager Name, Mailstop and DTN
Account Group Name
Account Group Manager Name, Mailstop and DTN
Portfolio Name
Portfolio Manager Name, Mailstop and DTN
Executive Partner, Mailstop and DTN
- Default information should not be displayed for
Account Manager or Account Group Manager. Default
information is defined as the person which a
Portfolio uses as a temporary Account Set or Account
Group manager when the true manager has not yet been
named.
- The application should be able to switch terms for
the user -- if the user enters "Kodak", the
application should translate the term to the
standard Digital name - "Eastman Kodak Co" and
display the correct detail information. The
application could search both the short name and the
long name fields that exist in the reference file
today. We should also investigate the possibility
of using the company name thesaurus to search on
synonyms and non-displayable synonyms.
- Include the ability to explode an AMID into it's
customer name, address, zip, IBU/SIC and customer
number
- Include the ability to enter a customer name or code
and be informed if it exists and what the AMID is.
- Build in hooks that will allow this to grow to
include a future Account Team File. This could
be sorted by AMID and tell the user who is on the
entire account team
- Make application available under the Account
Workbench via the ACCESS menu
- Provide an online query application which identifies
the demographic customer information; this saves the
account manager time and provides a "market map" of
the locations to prospect
- Provide the capability to find where AMID numbers
are rolling up in ANY account group; this will allow
users to locate the account set to which a "missing"
AMID number rolls up
- Display contact information for AVP coordinator.
Also display a message on the main menu which
identifies the infobase contact name (name TBD)
Security
Requirements - The proposed application should secure against
any user being able to consolidate a full
listing of all accounts by name
- The information in this application will have
a DIGITAL INTERNAL USE ONLY security restriction

36.13 | I have leads from DECUS, what do I do with them? | SMAUG::GARROD | From VMS -> NT; Unix a mere page from history | Mon Dec 14 1992 20:30 | 42 |
| Hello,
It's me again the base note author. I'm in an engineering group. DECUS
is just over and a couple of engineers in my group have just come back
with a bunch of business cards of customers interested in looking
at/buying one or more of our products. In some cases they need
literature follow up. In other cases follow up from a person.
We will try and follow up to some extent. But what I'd like to do is
hand these LEADS off to someone from the salesforce.

This sounds like exactly the sort of tool I need access to to find the
correct person to habd each of these leads off to.
What I'd like to do is type in the customer account name and ZIP code.
If the customer has an account rep I'd like it to spit out his name.
If not I'd like it to use the ZIP code to spit out the name of someone
that handles that area. Any chance this tool will do this for me?
Secondly what came of this proposal? Where is this tool? This note was
written in February.
I would really like to help people follow up on some solid leads we
have (some of them could be $100,000 a shot) but I don't know how to
pass them off. Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

36.14 | ACCESS | SUBSJF::LANDRIGAN | | Wed Dec 16 1992 12:25 | 9 |
| There is something the sales people use called ACCESS that, I believe, is on
the Corporate VTX library (it is a menu selection when we log into our mail
accounts). ACCESS has a module to locate Account Managers if you have the
customer name or customer number.
Give me a call if you can't find it and I'll see if I can help you.
