Why on earth are they resurfacing Viables Ind Est ? As far as I can remember there was absolutely nothing wrong with the roads. Now there'll be loose chippings for months to come. Also, the field that was so lovingly made 'Gypsy proof' by making an embankment with post all around with a pad-locked gate has been laughably accessed by said Gypsies by simply lifting the gate off its hinges. In fact the levelled green field as it is now makes an even better site than it was. Royston

It's a stupid way to resurface if you ask me, maybe it's cheap, but definately could cost more to the council from claims of broken windscreens etc. Mark | |||||

Royston, As far as the gypsies are concerned, I think it works like this: That field used to be open ground with no perimiter barrier, so the gypsies would plead it was common ground and therefore they were within their rights to pitch there. The installation of the ditch and posts with a single, padlocked, gate providing an entry point clearly deliniates the land as private property. This nice distinction means it is easier and quicker to get an eviction order from the courts; especially as the gypsies (or somebody else coincidentally) lifted the gate off its hinges, which probably constitutes breaking and entering. Re. .0 >> As far as I can remember there was absolutely nothing wrong with the >> roads. How did you measure the traction you could get on it, or was that what PJ has been doing on his bike for the past few weeks. Re .1 You've got a cat in hell's chance of successfully claiming for a broken windscreen. Re. gypsies They're only waiting for the workmen to go so they can peel off the new surface and sell it as driveways. ;^) |
