I noticed it yesterday at the Sainsbury's roundabout. It looked
as if it was photographing the new shopping extension.

| If it were land development, why was it parked at the Kempshott
Roundabout on the A30 last night? There ain't no land to develop.
Unless it is monitoring traffic flows to identify the impact on road
systems of new land development.
Nah - that sounds too much like careful planning and we know that
Councils don't do that!

David, For somebody who lives not too far from Cliddesden you show a scant
regard for correct spelling. The spelling is CliddesdEn, not CliddesdOn.
Besides, it _does_ run just behind the library and joins WOods Lane
_opposite_ the library, so my statement still stands.

But there is an agreement in place with Sony that states that people are
allowed to use the carpark as a shortcut.
This goes back to when planning permission was applied to build the Sony
building. At that time, Cliddesden Parish Council objected to the plans
on the basis that the building dominates the skyline (stand outside
Cliddesden Station and see what I mean). The Parish Council asked for a
row of conifers to be planted between the building and the M3 to screen
building. Sony pushed back on this and did a deal with Basingstoke and
Deane Borough Council that efectively got the plans through. This "deal"
was the use of the carpark as a shortcut

this note has surmised - or there is a short cut from the Golden Lion

I think that someone is pulling your pilsner!
Surely it's obvious!! The camera vans being used are
gathering data on roundabout construction and the use of
there after, well we are the experts in this sphere!
The data may also be related to the recent transport
departments ideas on charging road users for the use
motorways. Although, not mentioned directly a hidden
item could be our beloved roundabouts. Since these
marvels of technology seem popular in Basingstoke
they are trying to work out the optimal position for
the toll booths.
Probably the best...

I thought it was a variation of those cameras used to detect people jumping
the lights ... anyone who races across a roundabout at the last minute gets
photo'd and a summons through the door in a few weeks time. The reason they
keep moving it around is to try and solve a technical hitch in decoding the
number plates, they haven't got the angle quite right yet ... the most recent
statement from the pilot project referred to the high incidence of illegal
number plates in this area that obviously weren't visible from a distance of
twenty feet ... vertically ...

Did anybody ever find out where Woods Lane was ? I was going to ask

out in Jays Close, but rather next to the BBC TV Centre in Shepherds

There isn't a bridge over the M3 between the footbridge by ICL and the
where Woods lane goes under the M3. I've driven up and down many times
and just can't see it. Is it 'sky' coloured perhaps ? Have the
demolished it now ?
