No renault dealer in Basingstoke.
Newbury, Reading, Aldershot...... but not Basingstoke.
There is however a Renault bodyshop, but if you are after a service
for your little motor beastie or even a gander at a future prospect
then the news is all bad.

55.2 | Mekanix ? | LOOKIN::BUNN | Bug in DEC QUI Electrical function (CCD quote) | Wed Nov 09 1988 10:23 | 14 |
| Mekanix is a possible source of Renault spares. They specialise
in service/repair of Renaults (but I've never used them). When getting
desperate for a part for my R5 however I gave them a buzz, and
was told they could order parts from Weldale/Wheelers for me -
same day deleivery if you phone before 10:00 !
I never actually tried the service, but could beat a trip to
Reading/Newbury for that essential spare part.
Number is : Basingstoke 841695
No recommendations yet, but try them & report back ?

55.3 | THERE IS RENAULT GARAGE IN BASINGSTOKE | 42721::HORSNELL | | Wed Aug 02 1989 11:57 | 15 |
| Just to let you know there is a Renault Garage in Basingstoke,
for service and repairs only (it doesn't sell them). It is
called Mekanix and is situated on the Old Reading Road off the
Tesco's roundabout. It is a small privately run garage, but
for all you comapny car owners I'm afraid it does not take
PHH or Hertz cards at present.
I had my car serviced there yesterday and can highly recommend
them for the quality of the work done and the cost was very
reasonable too!
If your interested their number is Basingstoke 841695.

Are they a Renault approved dealer?
I'm looking for a different place to have my Renault serviced next
time and they would be reasonably convenient, but the warranty insists
that it's a Renault approved servicer.

No I am afraid they are not 'approved' dealers for Renault -
they say they can't do services under warranty, because it
would muck your guarantee up, but after your car is out of
its guarantee period they would be able to service it etc.
If you are stuck for parts etc, they would be able to supply
them on the day as they have a delivery in the morning and
the afternoon from Renault in Newbury (thats if the part is
in stock!).
Hope this helps.
