Subject: MCS AMERICAS                                                

It is necessary to inform you that by mutual agreement John Paget will be 
leaving Digital immediately.  I would like to thank John for the significant 
contribution he made to Digital and MCS during his three years with the 
Company.

It is critical that we maintain the positive business momentum that has been 
created in the Americas.  Much of our Company's and our personal success is 
dependent on MCS performance in the second half of the fiscal year.  I am 
confident that the Americas will deliver on all of their commitments.

I have asked Bob Good to be the Acting Americas MCS Manager as we go through 
the process of selecting a new manager.  Please give Bob and the Americas 
staff your full support as we work through this transition period.

	Gee, Paget was in the MSO1 lobby when I came in this morning. When I asked him if he was going to be attending the (MCS) Change Forum next week in Shrewsbury, he said no. kjg

	I didn't know Mr. Paget, but once when he visited a customer site and they had some kind words for me after I'd worked with them on some cluster problems, he went to the trouble to send me a very nice letter. I was quite impressed that a VP in this company who would do that, especially since I wasn't even in MCS.

	RE: 3629.3 I had an opportunity to work with John onsite a couple of months back. I was impressed by the man. He came to site, was approachable, and was genuinely interested in the current state of MCS as seen by the folks out on the front lines. He recognized the problems MSCS is having and acknowleged that they needed to be fixed. I was looking forward to seeing what changes he was going to bring about. I just hope his successor can measure up to that.

	It's been two weeks. Can anyone tell us what happened? I'm concerned because the memo doesn't say he resigned, only that he has left the company. If the facts need to 'age' a few more weeks before they can be posted here, that's OK.
