This reminds me of a cartoon I saw at a recent animation festival.
A worker really liked his job and his coworkers, but had a real problem
boss. He tried everything he could think of, even looked at other
jobs. Then he got the bright idea of giving his boss' name to a
headhunter and lo and behold -- it worked! The boss left and everybody
lived happily ever after.

Two weeks ago my wife got a call at 3:30pm from an insurance and
investments company. The guy said "We want to offer Gil a management
position in our company". What a teaser! She also said the guy was
really patronizing to her...When she said "May I take a message?" he
said "Yes you may, do you have a pencil?", like she was a two year old.
I blew it off until the following week, when I received a call from the
"District Manager". I asked what this job was all about, and he said
"We educate people about financial instruments". Uh-huh, I said, and
how are your staff compensated, and how many individuals would report
to this "management position". At that point he said "I really don;t
have the time to talk to you right now, I'll let our local manager get
in touch with you". (He called *ME* and he didn't have the time to
talk?) He asked if I was interested in coming in to
interview and I said "Well, I do have a few more questions." At which
time he said, "Well if you know of anybody else who might be interested
in making $50,000 and up, please have them call us." And he hung up.
BTW, The company was Primerica.

| I got the same pitch from Primamerica a week ago.
When I asked how they got my name, he admitted that they got it out of the
Manchester NH Onion Leader's "Good news" section.
Sounds like they had a blurb about my son being born in the paper.
That looks like some real sensible screening of qualified candidates. :- )

I swear this is first time I know that there are leaders for onions too,
and I've living in NH for 2 years and no one told me about this?
what does an onion leader do any way?
sorry you don't have to answer this, since it has nothing to do with
DEC way of life, I was just curious why would an onion want a leader
for?
thank you,

| The paper is called the Union Leader. It has many nicknames, typically
depending on how much you lean politically...... Useless Leader is
often heard around my area. This is the first time I've heard it
called Onion Leader.

| It's called Primerica ...there's no "A" in the middle.
They're some kind of insurance and investments or financial planning
firm. Or one that educates about financial instruments....depending
upon whom you are talking to.It sounded like they were trying to
recruit salespeople that they would run on a comission basis, calling
them all 'managers' to entice them in. Very high pressure sales. Of
course, I could be wrong and may have just passed up the opportunity of
a lifetime!

Formerly known as x. x. Williams (forgot the initials),
and yes, its very much like Amway. I attended an Amway rally
once in the same hotel as a _ _ Williams rally. We battled verbally
in the elevators over which was the better money maker. Amway
has hundreds of products with multiple layers of profit built into
the price, _ _ Williams had insurance, same built in profit structure.
There was a book on the founder. Interesting reading. A 60 minutes
on them since Primerica bought them would be illuminating.

I hope you learned your lesson. When the hospital asks if you
want a birth announced in the paper, just say `NO'. The only
people who read those announcements are bored telemarketers who
want to call and wake up your child and wife. We said `no' for
our second son and we didn't have the surge of telemarketing
calls that we had after our first son was announce in the paper.
