PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS

DECview3D is Digital's customizable integration tool for CAD data viewing.
It supports concurrent engineering concepts and CALS standards by enabling
users of varying technical capacities and functions to access and review
engineering designs in progress and to communicate changes or comments
electronically. DECview3D provides data translation from IGES, HPGL, and
CalComp960 formats, full 3D wireframe graphics manipulation, markup and
query of engineering data, and output in thirteen file formats.

DECview3D Concurrent View and Edit (DECview3D CVE) is a high-performance,
surprisingly affordable module layered on DECview3D for users to review
engineering designs simultaneously between different sites.

NEW IN V2.2

As part of the Open Advantage program, DECview3D V2.2 and the DECview3D CVE
Module V2.2 now support Digital's RISC ULTRIX operating system. For viewing
data in a concurrent engineering environment, DECview3D is now integrated
with EDCS II V2.2 product data manager; EDCS provides access control,
version control, configuration management, an audit trail, automatic change
notification, and review and release management. In addition, DECview3D
Concurrent View and Edit has been enhanced to support up to 32 simultaneous
sessions. And solicited field feedback has prompted us to introduce
DECview3D for ULTRIX at only $2360 and CVE for ULTRIX at a mere $1180 U.S.
List.

PRODUCT USAGE AND BENEFITS

DECview3D

Customers today realize significant benefits with DECview3D.
Cross-functional teams review CAD designs electronically to prevent or
expedite costly ECOs. Subcontractors communicate via modem with
geographically dispersed primes to display and discuss designs in progress.
Service and maintenance manual writers integrate engineering graphics
directly into DECwrite, DECpresent, or Interleaf.

DECview3D CVE

DECview3D Concurrent View and Edit expands these benefits by providing an
efficient, less expensive means for people in different locations to discuss
engineering designs together. Users communicate on identical screens on
different workstations issues associated with certain designs while
discussing them verbally by telephone.

Ultimately, both DECview3D and DECview3D CVE lead to improvements in design
quality and manufacturing time, as well as lower development costs.

POSITIONING

DECview3D is a CAD data viewer, NOT a CAD package, although its capabilities
extend the proliferation of CAD data to users who, because of prohibitive
cost or functionality "overkill," would otherwise not have access to CAD
packages. DECview3D's IGES, HPGL, and CALComp 960 translators can read
files from most CAD applications available today. DECview3D Concurrent View
and Edit is one in a series of product modules designed to extend the
functionality and benefits of DECview3D. Specifically, CVE enables long-
distance, high-performance, concurrent CAD data review between multiple
users. Ultimately, DECview3D and DECview3D CVE lead to improvements in
design quality and manufacturing turnaround time, as well as lower
development costs.

CVE PERFORMANCE PRIORITY

DECview3D CVE was designed with performance as a top priority. Because of
NAS technology, users running DECview3D CVE Sessions over great distances
operate as if they were within a local area network. DECview3D CVE has been
operated between Massachusetts and England and between Scotland and
California on DECnet, and locally over 2400 BAUD modem connection; the
display time in all cases was less than three seconds!
