6204.0. "Notification Window Text Manipulation" by CUJO::BROWN (Dave Brown) Wed Dec 28 1994 14:26
My customer grows weary of having his alarms in the notification
window begin with either the SNMP entity name or path of the SNMP
attribute being displayed. The desired information, more often than
not, ends up over on the right side of the window forcing him to use
the slider bar to see the information.
The customer therefore wonders if there is a way to customize the
display of alarms in the notification window. I have looked through the
advanced customization section of the notification window documentation
and have not really found a way to do this. What they would like to be
able to do is to display text strings that have some meaning like:
"Concentrator <xyz> has had error <abc>"
or
"GIGAswitch <xyz> has had an SCP failover; check configuration."
They do not at all care what the full name of the device or alarm
rule is, they just want to "QUICKLY GET TO THE POINT!"
Is there a way to manipulate the text strings which appear in the
Notification Window? If not, my customer SUGGESTS there ought to be...
Thanks,
Dave
