Does anyone know what the most recent image version is out for
MCC_IP_POOLER.EXE? My customer is running VMS V5.5-2.
Thanks,
Richard Ortiz

I too would like to check for the latest version of
MCC_IP_POLLER.EXE. The latest version I have has the following ID:
image ident "MCCPOL X1.0-A"
link data and time "27-JUL-1993 16:02:23.50"
Is this a reasonably late image? Are there known problems with it?
Are there better versions?
Thanks,
Dave

I've been testing the poller image mentioned in .1 for 24 hours;
its scheduled to be put on the customer's main NMS very soon. I guess
we'll let them tell us how well it works and how stable it is.
Hopefully, it will work out alright.

Re: -1
The Poller image mentioned in the previous note does some things
the customer does not like:
1) They are now getting IP reachibility notifications from domains
that have nothing to do with the current domain.
2) Within the correct domain, sometimes the IP poller simply stops
reporting IP unreachibilities until the system is rebooted. Last
week, there was a 5 hour period of time at which the poller reported
no unreachibilities although there were systems going up and
down.
3) There is still a problem with IP unreachibilities being reported
for hosts who have no IP reachibility problem. This problem also
existed with the SSB version of the poller image.
4) The customer has to try many POLL_INTERVAL, TIMEOUT, and RETRY
value combinations in order to not have an inordinant quantity
of IP reachibilities being reported in error. We are aware of
the formula used to derive the values; the values that work the
best do not conform with the formula.
5) When the poller is disabled, the poller process exits instead of
staying around.
IMPORTANT QUESTION:
-------------------
Is there a new Poller Image that has been created under a CFS
case or otherwise? If not, we will probably IPMT this issue stating the
above 5 issues as the problem.
Thanks,
Dave
