....OK, Jerry....what's yer take on this one?

More stories abound about The Whalers eminent departure from
The Insurance City.....Whalers are a DISMAL 6-15 on the road
(or somethin' like that)....but Da B's are a DISMAL 10-15
    at home...

...oh, this one will be a barn-burner fer sure!!
    (ya....right.....)

Tocchet's got cement in his skates lately...what the frig ever
happened to that "trade" we heard was gonna happen?? Huh????

so who want's an over-the-hill, maybe average forward
anyways ?

I dunno, it's like Boston is the city of death..

Guys play hear, do zilch, move on to other teams and
complete change, good players get to boston, and pffft...
nothin... I don't get, but at lesat I'm starting to get
used to it.

119.3yep.....I hear ya....ASDG::MCNAMARAstrange visitor......Thu Feb 06 1997 09:3214
...ya, I hear ya, Pelkster....good example of that right now?

Billington, in a career-saving performance thus far for Colorado...
haven't heard his stats in the past week, but he was 5-1 with a
    ~ 2.20 gaa.....go figure....and another example?

Craig MacTavish...remember when he killed a woman whilst drunk outta
his gourd?? Then the judge let's 'em off w/ a 10 month stint
in the slammer (working as a cook!)...then Harry gives 'me his
blessing, goes to Edmonton and wins the Cup.....go figure....

    .....oh well....it's only Hockey, right??

Anybody can look good with that team in front of them. Geez, even
Patrick Roy, the most overated goalie in the history of hockey, is
    chalking up shutouts!

What!!?? Are you trying to tell us this is a *TEAM* sport??!! That
"star" players like Roy, Neely and lots of others actually had other
people on the ice with them?? Say it ain't so!

    :-) :-)

My wife has gotten tired of me saying, after some ex-Bruin makes a nice
few plays, "Gee, I wish Boston had a guy like him"!!

    Cheers,

119.8B's just plain suck this year! They lost 5-3 tonight!SUBPAC::BJUBINVILLECMP-6 Equipment EngineeringThu Feb 06 1997 23:1322
Andrew Cassels scored a pair of third-period goals and Sean
Burke made 41 saves as the Hartford Whalers snapped a three-game
losing streak with a 5-3 triumph over the Boston Bruins.

Cassels' goal with 15:05 to go in regulation snapped a 3-3
deadlock. He was able to skate out from behind the net and
flicked a short wrist shot past goaltender Rob Tallas for his
14th goal of the season and first in seven games.

Cassels added an insurance tally on the power play with 9:48
remaining, firing a low slap shot from the right point that beat
Tallas to the stick side. It was Cassels' second two-goal game
of the season and boosted the Whalers to 3-1-1 against Boston in
1996-97. Hartford had beaten the Bruins just four times in
their last 34 meetings entering this season.

Rookie Kevin Brown and former Bruin Glen Wesley each had a pair
of assists for the Whalers, who moved one point ahead of idle
Washington for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot.

Don Sweeney, Rick Tocchet and Jean-Yves Roy scored in the second
period for Boston, which has lost five of its last six at home.

Sinbin was receiving death threats to the effect of,,,If MacTavish
plays in Boston again you're as dead as the woman he killed...and
crap like that. If I was in his boots at the time I would have shipped
him out of town. 10 months in jail is still 10 months in jail and
must suck, even as a cook.

        Lil Ed
119.10drunk....it works for Harry....hmmmmmm....ASDG::MCNAMARAstrange visitor......Fri Feb 07 1997 07:3216
...agreed, Lil' Ed., my point was that after all he does, he goes
to a team that then goes on to win The Cup.....I remember seeing
MacTavish on the news, all smiles in jail, all the inmates liking
him, Craig's in the kitchen, mixing up breakfast....

    ..what a *nice* feeling, huh??

...but I digress....another stellar performance by Kasper & Company
last night......how long will the torture last (he asked knowingly) ???

...this is REAL....they ain't making the playoffs, and all this
should come to a head this summer....if Sin-Den lets it go on,
the Fleece will be one BIG cavern next year....

ya know I'm so friggin tired of hearing everyone talk
about the B's runing out of time for a play off spot..

What the hells the big deal? it's not as if they're actually
gonna play any more than 4 maybe five games anyway post
season anyways....

If this team can win a must-win regular season game,
against the Senators, where's the notion that this team
would win one playoff game agains the number 2 or 1 seed
in the conference.. Hello ! Anyone home ?? What a joke...

Sinden really needs to retire, and someone has to step up,
get rid of Kasper, and rebuild this teams offensive
line up.. The empty seats, and the amount of Hartford
fans you could hear cheering last night are precursors
to the B's bottoming out BIG time by april Trade
deadline is coming up fast, no help on the horizon.

Why was Odgers on the power play with a 2 man advantage, 5 mins. left,
and the B's down by 2 goals. I couldn't figure that one out. What is
    Kasper thinking....

Isn't this the time of year that Jer takes off for a couple of
weeks of golf someplace warm? I kinda thought that it was. Either that
or he's decided to be kind and charitable... I wonder why he hasn't
send a postcard from Florida... ;-)

119.17See what happens when your hockey team stinksDIVER1::MACHADOCrazy on a ship of foolsFri Feb 07 1997 16:0912
I was just sitting here thinking about how with the B's being so
bad, I was already looking forward to the Red Sox season starting. It
suddenly occurred to me that now that Clemens is with the Blue Jays,
what is going to be the first emergency of training camp. Every season
for the last handful of years we've been treated to the Boston press
and their game of "Where's Roger??" This year there's no Roger so what
will the emergency be when he doesn't show up for training camp on the
first day that pitchers and catchers are supposed to report on? I
    dunno, I was just wondering...
