| Incidentally, I did order this from the States, and the price finally
tuurned out to be 34 quid, and no VAT. It would have been about 5%
cheaper if I'd had 10 to order instead of only 5.
Cheers, Laurie.

You mean you have the CD-ROM connected to the SB, and you are also
getting another IDE *what* ? Hard drive, I presume?
You mean your CD rom doesn't even work? Have you tried the PC
conference (sorry if you've been in there, I forget who uses it and who
doesn't!)
Cheers,
Dan

-1 no I mean't that the hardware is probably duff as I can't get the
cdrom to recognize the soundblaster address. The ide cable between the
rom and blaster is my first suspect.
anyhow I'll take this to the pc conference ;-)

| Here in the antipodes, software distributors seem to jack up the costs
because we're so far away from everyone else and they think we mug
consumers won't notice. I've been quoted $A99.99 for DOOM ][ on CD-ROM
which I think is a bit too steep (more to the point, my wife says it's
too steep :-(. .1 says stg34.00 including airfreight from USA (?) which
would be between A$60 and A$70 at current exchange rates (I think).
Could readers please give a rough price in their currency? My brother
in law will be visiting soon from East coast USA and I think he'd have
room in his baggage for CD...

between 45 and 50.

| Yeah, 34 quid was including postage, but had a colleague who was in the
States, and I had it sent to his house. He brought it back to Brussels,
and I sent it out from here! Therefore the postage was internal to the
US. International rates for a single CD are of course, more expensive,
and I try to save costs by ordering as many as possible at once. The
downside of this is that it can cause a delay, and sometimes people are
in too much of a hurry.
Retail price of DOOM2 on CD in the US is around $50.
Cheers, Laurie.

John,
When I was in Queensland recently (Cairns) I picked up the DOOM 2 CD for
about A$79 if I remember correctly. That was at IPC. The diskette version
I bought for my brother was A$69. Here in Brussels I've seen it at my
local software shop for BEF2200 (about A$100).

| The price in the Nashua NH are is between 37-40 $US.
The price seems to be the same for the CD or Floppy versions.
The floppy version has a "mail in for the DOOM 1 version".

Let me get this right, I ordered DOOM II in the mail
and received a couple weeks after I placed the order.
ID sends me a leeter stating, "Sorry about the delay, please
accept a free gift as return." You get either a shirt, hat
or DOOM hint book. I have the book so I grabbed a hat. Two
weeks after I received the hat, another letter comes stating
"sorry about the delay for the free order, pick another gift
as well!" The selections were, a 10% refund if you weren't
pleased with the game, a 10% coupon for you next order or
a CD version of DOOM II. My CD came in the mail yesterday.
How are they going to make any money if they keep pouring
out free stuff. The CD is still in the box. I could sell
it for $50 if I wanted to.
