    In the 1.2 registered version, there is a new secret door or something. 
    Can  anyone tell me where it is?

    The third secret introduced in v1.2 is a hidden elevator.
    
    As a general tip keep the music turned down and the sound effects up,
    this will allow you to hear when you trip various secrets, it also
    helps with spotting the monsters.
    
    Small hint follows...
    
    
    You will have to run to get to it in time.
    
    More of a clue...
    
    
    It's fairly near the zig zag area.
    
    If you still can't find it then ask again and I'll make it a little 
    more obvious.

    I know where it is but I haven't figured-out what actuates it.
    
    I spent an hour or so on this yesterday with no luck. Feel free to

    The trip is somewhere around the entrance to the zig zap part, if you
    come from the previous room and run around the corner you will hear
    the elevator descend, so long as you run straight into the area which
    was occupied by the platform holding the fire breathers it will be at
    the back left corner, just run on in and wait for it to take you up.

    I've been on the platform when it was in the lowered position - tried
    pushing and shooting every surface without any luck. I gues I didn't
    wait long enough...

    I tried this again last night (this morning actually 8^)
    
    I can't (reliably) lower the elevator, when I do get it lowered I can't
    get it to go back up again (to access the hidden area).
    
    Am I missing something obvious (other than skill).

    OK I did it - I'm now at 100% for secret areas. Thanks for the help

    My spoiler follows:
    
    
    
    The platform with the two baddies won't lower until you get to the EXIT
    door room.
    
    My steps:
    
    Upon entry to the zig zag area kill all the baddies.
    
    Work your way through to the end (EXIT room). This will also lower the
    platform in the zig zag room.
    
    Go back to the entrance to the zig zag room. Run across the slime unto
    the platform, stay to the left and shoot to the right (otherwise you
    get shotgunned in the back of the head.
    
    Leave the platform and go back out to _before_ the entrance to the zig
    zag room. Run (at full speed) into the zz room and across the zz and
    slime onto the platform, go right to the back left corner and get on
    the elevator. Note: if you do not see a black area in this corner the
    elevator is not down, go back and try again.
    
    The only exit form this area is to jump back down into the zz room from
    the end of the secret area.
    
    It takes alot of smashing into walls to get this right, if you're not
    fast enough the the elevator will rise without you - and won't come
    back down.

I had the shareware version, and now I've got the Ultimate Doom CD (you know,
the one with the 4th episode, Thy Flesh Consumed).

Anyway, I noticed in this very first level, there's a new switch in the
room on the left with the two pillars and the stair leading up to the armor.
The switch is on the side of the right hand pillar.  Can't miss it.

I push it, and it really doesn't do anything that I can see -- at least
in Ultraviolence mode.  I never have TIME to push it in Nightmare mode.


Any ideas what it does?

         Yes, it opens a secret door very close to where you are.
    
         I really don't understand though why they changed this level at
            all, and none of the others. It's too small for a deathmatch
            level and none to tough for co-operative play.

Thanks Mike.

I never thought they'd put anything right there either.  The first time I fired
it up and came around the corner I was so surprised, the Sarge with the shotgun
got two good shots in before I came to my senses 8^)
