I noticed a strange behaviour on my terminal windows. When I change the width to 132, the resulting window is scrolled back 3 lines on a 24 line window, and 7 lines on a 48 line window. I use the condensed font for 132 columns, and the normal font for 80 columns, and I'm running SSB VMS V5.2 & DECwindows on a VS2000. When I say "scrolled back," I mean that it is like I used the scroll bar to bring back the last few lines. When I switch back to 80 columns, the scrolled back area is preserved. Switching back and forth repeatedly does NOT accumulate scrolled back lines. -JP

1471.1 | Yes, I've seen it - should be QARed | GR8FUL::HERBERT | I walked right out of the machinery | Thu Sep 21 1989 10:31 | 7 |
Yes, I've noticed this too... but it usually happens when I'm really busy doing something and don't have time to submit a QAR... :-) Will you please QAR this? Kevin
1471.2 | Known problem | HANNAH::MESSENGER | Bob Messenger | Thu Sep 21 1989 18:03 | 16 |
Re: .0 This is a known problem, which is fixed in DECwindows V2. It is caused by the auto resize logic: the rows and columns and the condensed/normal font are changed in two steps, and after the first step DECterm decides that there is unused space at the bottom of window, so it scrolls down some of the transcript to fill up the window. You can work around the problem by (1) living with it, (2) upgrading to DECwindows V2 field test, (3) disabling Record Lines Off Top, or (4) selecting either Normal Font (80 Columns) or Condensed Font (132 Columns) in Customize Window, rather than Normal/80, Condensed/132, which switches between the font sizes. -- Bob
1471.3 | QARed and living with it. | HOONOO::PESENTI | JP | Fri Sep 22 1989 11:01 | 8 |
I submitted a QAR on the problem (at least I think I did), which was no easy task. It felt like I was connected to TRIFID via a 300 baud dialin line. I can certainly live with the problem until I upgrade. Thanks -JP |
