I have a 10' white birch tree that I don't need. Free to anyone who wants to
come and dig it up - I'll even help.

There are also several small sassafras trees in an area that we will be clearing
soon. You can have one of those if you like, too.

Trees are located in Windham, NH.

Tidbit about birches (found out from my neighbor):

They have a lifespan of 35-45 years, but will sprout new trees endlessly.
I know because my yard has several birch tree clusters. And some of these
puppies look like their about nearing the end. In the clusters, I've let
some of the new trees come up Which are about an inch or so thick now, so
when I have to cut out the old (dying) tree, the young one will take its
place.

They're sometimes known as "forest weeds" because they do grow rapidly and
spread.

Birch is good wood to cook on. I have a Franklin wood stove that has a
grill that swings over the open fire. Steaks and chops are the best
cook this way, especially with birch that is burn down to where
    its just hot coal.

Too bad your so far and I'm so lazy Paul, or I'd take your offer.
However, I just had three cords of wood delivered that need to be
    stacked.

I would very much appreciate anyone's help (and prayer!) with this!

I have need of short-term (hopefully) housing. I will accept anything
from a room in a house to a 1 bedroom apartment. The need is fairly
immediate - I need to move in the weekend of 05-JUN-1993. I would
*strongly* prefer something in the Southern NH area, but would consider
reasonably nearby MA locations, as well.

I cannot afford very much money, as I've just been TSFO'd and my final
two weeks pay will perhaps have to go a ways. In addition, I have a
(very house trained and quiet) Keeshond (small dog), with which I am
not willing to part. Finally, I'll need to have some place to park and
work on my old VW Kharman Ghia (she's tired, and needs frequent TLC).

Frankly, I understand what I'm asking for is an incredible level of
mercy from a landlord, but that's about my only choice. If anyone can
help, I would be extremely grateful. I can be reached through this
conference or by VMS MAIL at the address above (probably) until about
01-JUN-1993. I can also be reached by telephone at (207) 683-2343 until
about 04-JUN-1993. Subsequent to that (or if you can't otherwise reach
me), a fall back number is my parents' home - (603) 883-8636.

     ADthanksVANCE,

This is from Peggy Werber who asked me to post this for her...

Sorely needed: any and all sorts of baby items for a new born!!!

My friend (Peggy's) Paula was married in October. She has 5 children
and exists on welfare and on a meager child support supplication. She
has a tired old station wagon that is on its last legs and needs
constant repairs, all paid for by friends who know her desperate
situation. Her new husband David was saved in jail 7 years ago, and
led Bible studies in jail and endured persecution from fellow inmates.
He was released in early summer last year and marrried Paula in
october after years of courtship, a lifelong friend, and a firm
    commitment to God's will.

They were married for two months before David fled to Florida and
deserted the marriage. Although he has kept in sporadic touch with
Paula, he has sent her no money and has devasted her life. She is
currently 8 months pregnant and David wants nothing to do with his
baby. She was in the hospital for the first 2 months of this pregnancy
in a sever condition and never received even a call from David.

I have never seen Paula so hurt and beat. She is on the strongest
Christian women I know, and she's been through one bad turn after
another. Her strength and faith in God throught this whole ordeal is
amazing. It does not waver and she counts on Him for her strength for
she has none left of herself. I'm briefly telling her story here
because she has so many basic needs that she just cannot meet.

She is due in 5 weeks and has no crib, baby clothes, no blankets, no
bottles, not one thing for this new life coming into the world. She
has no idea what she is going to do.

If you can help out in any way with baby items, please contact Peggy
    Werber at 508-392-0152.

24.36Help for former DECciePOWDML::SMCCONNELLNext year, in JERUSALEM!Mon Aug 16 1993 11:5032
    HI,

I don't know how many of you will remember former DECcie John Stott.
He was TFSO'd about a year ago I guess. John in a believer who has
made some very bad decisions about his life and is unfortunately
bearing up under the consequences of some of those decisions. John is
a very gentle man who has been wounded beyond belief during his life
and unfortunately, in years gone by, before he was a believer, he was
the cause of a lot of wounding as well.

I believe John's faith in the L-rd is strong but his knowledge of the
Truth and how to apply it is lacking. John *really* needs to be part
of a non-legalistic, loving, nurturing covenant community in the Ayer,
MA area (within say a 30 minute drive). He needs a community that will
be uncompromising in the Word's wisdom, encouragement, grace, and
    mercy.

To complicate matters, John has no place to live currently and his only
source of income at the moment is unemployment. He told me this
weekend that he will be looking for any kind of work to sustain his
income, but for now, there isn't much.

Please pray about John. If you think you can help him out with a room
for little or no rent and a community like I described above, please
send me mail. John will be contacting me to see if I found anything
for him. If you think you have something but it's not really in the
Ayer community, let me know...John may change his mind.

    Thanks,

I have a friend who is looking for a hymnal in Braille (including the
music). He's checked the normal sources and has been met with "we used
to produce them with support from the government, but the separation
between church and state policies have ended that support thus we
 no longer produce them".

So, if anyone knows where I might get my hands on one of these, please
 send mail.

(1) Have you called some Christian bookstores?
(2) The Nazarene Publishing House is pretty big in Kansas City, Missouri.
I don't know if they have braille, but you can call them to find out.
The Church of the Nazarene just released a new hymnal (1993), too.
It would be interesting if they have braille editions.

.(1) Have you called some Christian bookstores?

Yes. He and I went out last Saturday and asked. Granted, we only
went to one store (he has tried others). I have another I'm going
to try (and someone in the Church suggested a store in Boston which
   we will try).

I'll check that out. I know we are also checking "Sword of the Lord"
publishing as well. The key is he really needs the music to be included
as he wants to learn to play the songs on the piano.

	Jim,

Does your friend access the Talking Book Library ?

I'll check our catalogs tonight to see if I can find anything.

BTW, many Christian magazines and daily devotionals (like
Our Daily Bread) are offered in Braille, large print, and audio
	cassette, for the visually impaired.

Yep, he's gets a few of those. He often jokes about bringing his bible
to church, if he could find enough people to help him carry it :-) (it
 is in 18 volumes).

24.69Rare (wierd?) 'nostalgic' CD for sale :-)POWDML::SMCCONNELLNext year, in Jerusalem!Mon Jul 11 1994 18:4739
Hi,

I had a bunch of CCM CDs for sale today, but before I had a chance to enter
them in this conference, they were sold.

I do have one, however, that wasn't entered in my CLASSIFIED_ADS note (but
was in the CCM note).

I'm asking "Best offer" for this disk (and for all I know, I've attached
more worth to it than you might ;-):

The Myrrh Radio Collection, Volume 2 (circa 1990)

This is *not* a mass-produced CD, it is a CD that Myrhh sends to Christian
radio stations with either current or pre-release singles/tracks from
various artists. This particular one has 17 tracks on it from people
including Sheila Walsh, Randy Stonehill, Kim Boyce, Phil Keaggy, etc., and,
if you can believe it, SELAH. For those of you who remember (and those who
don't), SELAH was the Christian band that Joe Reznoni and I started back in
1986. Myrrh signed us for one song ("Greater Good") to appear on their
compliation CD "Twelve New Faces". Shortly after that, they picked a few
songs (in different CCM categories) to be released nationally as singles
for airplay representing the "Twelve New Faces" sampler. This is the CD
Myrrh sent to radio stations to play the song. I myself never heard it
on the radio (I live in New England, remember ;-), but we did get letters
from a few different states (including a "Top-20" list from a station in
Philadelphia which was a treat! :-) so I assume it got some airplay (in
spite of the fact that ASCAP royalty checks continue to total $0.00 some 4
years later :-\ ).

I'm not asking a specific price, I'd just like "best offer", you can tell
me what you think it's worth and I'll consider all offers. Just so you
know, I reserve the right to just give this to a non-believer if so moved.

If interested in a little nostalgia :-) drop me a note at POWDML::SMCCONNELL.

Thanks,

Steve

    WANTED:

Looking for items to be donated (tax deductible) to a congregation
    based in Worcester, MA.

    	- Audio Casette Tape Dubbing Machine

We need a hi-speed pro (or semi-pro) dubbing unit; the kind that
does multiple copies at a time (4 or more). This would primarily
be used for duplicating taped sermons, so ultra-precise audio
specs aren't necessary, but it should make semi-decent, very
    	listenable copies.

We could also use a home version (i.e., dual-deck unit) for
"one-offs" of recorded worship music. Again, pro-specs not
    	required - just decent sound.

    	- Audio Equipment

Mics, power amps, speakers, mixers, FX units, musical instruments,
etc.; varying needs at varying times - if you have anything, let me
know. Currently, we really could use a 16-channel stereo mixer and
        moderate (e.g., 200W RMS/side 8-ohm) power amp.

    	- Office Equipment

I believe the office currently has some old Mac equipment - what it
is, I'm not exactly sure; I just know it's been in the shop a lot
lately :-) If you have any kind of office equipment, Mac,
PC, copiers, chairs, etc., that would be helpful.

    Thanks,

24.74DALMATION AND ELECTRIC FENCE FOR SALE!!LEDS::DYERFri Aug 19 1994 11:2920
Hi Brothers and Sisters,

My son is going away to a Christian Prepratory (sp?) School in Long Island
and my wife and I will finally have some freedom. I have a wonderful
four year old Dalmation that I would like to sell. The deal would include
an Invisible Electric Fence to bury in your yard to keep him in the yard.
I am selling both the dog and the fence for $400.00. This is a great buy since
the fence alone (brand new - 4 months old) costs $500.00.

I have already posted this in Canine.

If you are interested, please call me and I will give you details about
"Einstein".

        For sale

        Home study greek course.
This is a pretty comprehensive course for starting to learn
N.T. greek. It consists of a text book, two work books,
an answer book, and a set of audio tapes that steps you through
the entire text book almost page for page.

This is a pretty good set to learn beginnig greek. I found it to
be very helpful. It's good for someone who wants to get into greek
but doesn't have the time for a formal class.
I'm asking 60 dollars for it, which is about thirty bucks off the
store price and it's in excellent condition. I'll split the
shipping costs (I'm at CXO in Colorado Springs).

Of course, the "list this here" above was in Chit-Chat and as I
predicted, the moderators saw fit to move it, all in a few minutes time
    from when I entered it!!!

I guess I should have done a more thorough search of titles in the

of to search for was the word "sale" in the titles. Duh!

The Message is terrific! Because of its style, reflecting more the
tone of the original Greek language (i.e. informal rather than formal),
the Scriptures speak to you in a way that is, let's see,
straightforward. My wife bought me Eugene Peterson's The Message
Psalms for my birthday. It's pretty incredible. Peterson, having been
a preacher for 27 years and a professor too as well as a poet, has
really got something good going with "The Message".

If anybody knows where I can find a hymnal in braille please let me know
(mail is fine). My friend Ron is trying to find one and we've checked
numerous sources and so far no luck.

 Thanks

24.93Looking for room or roommateLIBRT6::DAYThu Dec 28 1995 09:2111
Hi everyone...

I'm looking for a room or a roommate to share expenses with in the Nashua, NH
area. As shared values are important, I would like to room with a Christian
family or roommate if I could.

I am trying to keep expenses down as I also have my family to support,
though I am away from them for a while.

Dick
