1671.0. "A-10-aholic" by ANGLIN::SPOHR () Thu Jun 15 1995 11:39

    Well... I could'nt take it any more!

    I broke down and ordered an A-10 Warthog kit from Sunset Hobbies.

    84" Wingspan - Powered by two 5" ducted fan units (.45-.82 engines)

    Fiberglass & Foam Construction - True-to-scale undercamber wing

    This one will take some time to build, so don't expect any flight
    reports in the very near future.

    I'll add reports on the kit/progress as time permits.

    Signed,

    Chris (I've wanted one for many years)

          Chris,

             Looking forward to your reports. The A-10 has always been
          a favorite of mine ( but then again I think C-130's are awesome
          too! :)
1671.2I can hardly contain myselfANGLIN::SPOHRThu Jun 15 1995 15:058
    Dan,

    Right now, I feel like a kid at Christmas time. I intend to enter a
    "kit report" after it arrives and have a chance to go through it. I'm
    sure that chance will be immediately upon arrival!

    Boy, am I in a good mood...

1671.3......WoW!.....CTUADM::MALONEAlways ObtuseFri Jun 16 1995 19:3416

    ...Can't wait to hear how the first flight goes. I just can't imagine
    what the sound of those two fans will be like screaming away.

    ...Just try not to think about the investment, Fans, Motors, Finishing
    materials, PCM radio, Time...just have fun!

    ...Seriously, though...sounds like quite the project. Hope everything
    builds well and your only troubles are trying to get the grin off your
    face after that first successful flight. Keep us posted on the
    progress.

    Regards
    Rod

    Rod, thanks for the words of encouragement.

    I have already started pricing the fans, engines, et al.... It ain't
    gonna be inexpensive - that's for sure!

    I've wanted one for so long though that the cash outlay does'nt bother
    me (except for the part where I explain it to my wife).

    ETA on the kit is around July 10. Updates after that will probably be
    infrequent unless I get the building bug real bad and time permits.

    Ciao,

1671.5Rain...that's the ticket!CTUADM::MALONEAlways ObtuseTue Jun 20 1995 18:499
    ....Pray for rain! That's what I did. Finally started on the Weekend,
    have gotten a whole bunch of building/fixing done in the last couple
    of eves.

1671.6Look...up in the sky...it's a bird...it's a planeGLRMAI::SNOWWed Jul 05 1995 11:4113
    Chris,

    Just thought I'd pop in here to let you know Dan and I saw a real live
    A-10 up in the sky yesterday when we were motoring around on the
    motorcycle in New Hampshire and Vermont. Not quite sure where we were
    when we saw it, but I had to look up when I saw Dan looking up. Glad
    he didn't get too involved in looking at it cause that would have meant
    nobody was watching where we were going :)

    Hope you had a safe 4th!

1671.7Serious case of A-10 bugANGLIN::SPOHRWed Jul 05 1995 13:3816
    Hi Lin,

    It's all I can do to contain myself on this A-10. I have wanted one
    for way too long.

    Yesterday afternoon, I found and built a balsa A-10 glider for my 4 year
    old. I must have the bug bad... I dyed it with light green dye
    and drew panel lines on it. I then told him that he could throw it one
    time and then we were putting it up on his dresser to look at.

    Yep, I think I have the A-10 bug!!

    Say hello to Dan,
