1669.0. "I like DAD" by NCMAIL::BLUMJ () Fri May 26 1995 10:23

    I just received my first order of DAD equipment. I got the interceptor
    2000 8 channel FM receiver with aileron extension, DADPAD/velcro, and
    crystal for $64.95. I also bought 4 of the pro servos(80 in-oz) for
    $26 apiece.

    The servos come with the standard nylon arms and mounting hardware, but
    in additon include a full set of Sonictronics long filament control
    horns. These normally retail for $8.

    The order was sent Federal Exprtess at no extra charge.

    THE STUFF SAYS IT IS MADE IN THE USA.

    Everything works great, the servos are the most slop free I have ever
    owned and very powerful.

    I think this is a great place to buy receivers and servos.

    What kind of connectors are offered? I assume the major brands.

    Also, are they bushing or ball bearing servos?

    re: -1

    They offer connectors for all radio types(JR,Futaba,Airtronics,etc).

    The bearings are described as "Shock proof, self-lubricating
    meehanite/oilite, .0005 radial clearance bearings."

    A guy in my club went to college(Cornell) with Dave Abbe(owner of DAD)
    and he is really high on this technology.

    I really like the fact that they are 80 in-oz of torque vs. the 40
    in-oz you get with Futaba, JR, Airtronics standard servos.

    re:-1

    Two are currently in use one for the tow release in the nose of a 1/4
    scale glider, the other for a tow release in my towplane. The 80 in oz
    of torque really comes in handy in these applications.

1669.7so many questions, so little time..CSLALL::ONEILLFri Jul 07 1995 15:225
    I got a question. Do you have to have any thing tuned when you
    purchase an aftermarket receiver or do you just buy the proper
    channel, drop it in and go fly?

                                                 Thanks, Jim
1669.8No problemSALEM::DEANThu Aug 03 1995 10:0411

    I have never had problems using different rec's with different
    xmitter's, as long as they are the same channel. This is for equipment
    that advertized these feature like RCD. I would have to believe for DAD
    to stay in business his would have to be as compatable as RCD.
    By the way the only difference between a Futaba and Hitec or etc. rec
    is the plastic cover with the cut out for the servo.

    Bye
