In July of 1995, I will be hosting an open funfly contest at the CMRCM
club field in Westboro. The contest will be sanctioned and open to all
AMA members.
In hopes of avoiding the current "restrictions" clubs are placing on
real funfly machines (to make it fair so they say), I want to run 3
classes. Novice, Sportsman, and Expert.
Novice will be simple tasks. Guess your time in the air and stuff like
that.
Sportsman will probably be anything up to "all out" funfly tasks.
Expert class will be where the true funfly machines are placed. Events
will be things like limbo, most touch and goes in xtime etc. No chance
events. Man on Man. The winner will be the person that flew the best.
If you have a funfly machine, you will "have" to fly in expert. Anyone
else can fly in expert if they want, but will do so knowing what the're
up against.
What I'm looking for is ideas (for all classes) on what tasks to have.
If you've run/attended funfly's in the past, let me know what types of
events they had and what you thought was fun. Doesn't matter if it was
a "chance" event or real task. All ideas are welcome. I'd like this to
be a challanging AND fun event.

I just saw this this morning in the recent model airplane news.
Fun fly ideas, attach a balloon to a bals stick and attach the
stick to a R/C car, now try to get the balloon while the car tries to
avoid the plane. Attach an extra servo with double sided tape to your
plane, attach a streamer to a washer and place it over the servo arm.
When the arm turns, the "bomb" is released twords the target. The
magazine mentioned the y may run a fun fly section in the comming
future and stated also, all such activities should be conducted
with saftey first.
