| The "scraping the spackle at 45 degrees to the grain" trick used on the obechi
glider wings should work. You might want a coat of epoxy paint to toughen the
wood first.

| I use microballoons and 30 min epoxy for fillets and it works well. I
apply it with a popsicle stick then I dip my finger in alcohol (iso not
beer) and run it along the fillet to smooth it. You want to get it
nice and smooth because it is not easy to sand. On the plus side, it
is very tough and doesn't damage easily during handling and covering.

Epoxy paints... Can you store them for a while after mixing part A
and part B plus thinner for spraying. Probably has to be kept cool...
I would rather mix a large than required to keep the color shade the
same, but if I can't then I'll mix as needed...

| If you keep the mix cool you can use it for a couple of days.
Actually, I think its more a problem of the thinner evaporating than
with having the epoxy kick off. That stuff really goes fast. I
usually put a mix in the window sill and the cold radiating off that
will keep it for a while. Also, my shop is in the basement.
