1527.0. "Hangers" by SOLVIT::SOARNG::TIMMONS () Thu Jun 03 1993 08:35

    OK, so now you've built 20 aircraft, still have 10 left, average
    wingspan is 2m +, your basement walls are: 1.Finished rooms 2.Shop area
    does not have any wall space (Usual nail shelves, paint storage,
    etc.,etc, and so forth). How do you store these things SAFELY?

    	No, I do not have that many planes but I do have limited "free
    space". I am thinking of building some sort of "overhead closet" to
    keep these safe. Any thoughts? All suggestions considered and
    appreciated.

1527.1What I do is....BAHTAT::EATON_NNigel EatonThu Jun 03 1993 09:1218
I have a restricted area too, what I have done is string strong wires across my
workshop ceiling, between hooks. I set up a grid, so that I can just put the
wings / fuselages etc on top of the wires, and then they're out of the way.

You have to use strong wires, and stout, well anchored hooks for this to work,
but I've had no troubles, and I don't tread on wings any more!

A friend, who has a taller ceiling than mine, has bolted a frame made from
Dexion to his ceiling, and just puts loop of twine around the 'plane (front and
back), then hooks the twine to the Dexion. Same effect.

Hope this helps!

Cheers

My shop is in the basement and I have a grid of hooks that run along the
1st floor joists. I use luggage bungie cords to hold models between the
joists. This keeps them from hanging low enough to be clipped by someone's
head or something being carried. The bungies give some if they do get
bumped.

Keeps them off the floor and keeps the cats/kids from bumping into them
and knocking them over.
