1513.0. "RC Aircraft demonstration wanted" by MR4DEC::DTOMPKINS () Tue Apr 06 1993 17:21

    My apologies if this topic is covered elsewhere in this notes file, but
    I didn't know what keyword to use...

    I am on the Pack Committee of a Cub Scout Pack in Andover, MA., and
    recently volunteered to find some entertainment for an outdoor
    outing/picnic which we hold every May. If past years are a good
    indicator, we should have about 200-250 Scouts and their families in
    attendance.

    One entertainment idea which came up was to have some kind of demo of
    RC aircraft, perhaps including some explanation of how they work and
    what it takes to build them.

    Does anyone reading this conference have any ideas of someone who could
    put such a show on for the Pack?? We are a non=-profit organization,
    so don't have a lot of money to spread around, but some kind of payment
    is not out of the question.

    Thanks for your advice....

    Dennis Tompkins

If there isn't someone in the notesfile in your area, a trip to one of the
local hobby stores will put you in touch with a local club. They can probably
fill the bill and have one of their instructors do a demo/explanation. What
might be a problem is the site of your outing and the suitability of it for
the flight demo. R/C cars might be another alternative.
1513.2Delta Dart ProgramNEMAIL::YATESWed Apr 07 1993 14:1513
    Dennis, you may want to consider using the American Modelers
    Association Delta Dart airplane. This plane has a rubber band motor
    and kids can make them in about one hour by putting airplane glue on a
    paper diagram and then placing balsa sitcks on the glue.

    These models can be purchased (their inexpensive) from Sig
    Manufacgturing Co, Inc, Montezuma, IA 50171, (515) 623-3922.

    The kids have a lot of fun flying them and usually a small contest is
    conducted and a prize given for the Delta Dart which flies the longest.
