1343.0. "Vacation Spots - Basin Harbor in Vermont" by ZENDIA::REITH (Jim Reith DTN 226-6102 - LTN2-1/F02) Thu Aug 08 1991 09:43

    I didn't find a "vacation spot" topic so I thought I'd start one. This
    is a place that sounds wonderful and they have a fullsize landing area
    where the guests fly model planes. A buddy spent a week here the last
    three years and I'm thinking of giving it a try for a long weekend
    myself.

    Located on the eastern shore of Lake Champlain, Basin Harbor is located
    in Vergennes Vermont, off Rt 7 south of Burlington. The brochure lists
    an olympic pool, canoes, various boats and sailboards, fishing, an 18
    hole champion golf course, tennis, and 3 gourmet meals. The pastry chef
    is the R/C instructor. My buddy was also treated to a ride in a Waco
    and a 20 minute sailplane ride by people who were there that week.

    They have a main lodge, a country inn, and individual cabins. Rates are
    a little steep but all the meals are provided and excellent from what I
    heard. Something to occupy everyone while you fly off what was
    described to me as a putting green airstrip.

    Yep, and there's a hobby shop with a field located about ten minutes
    from the harbor also.

1343.2Alpine Slope SoaringUSRCV1::BLUMJSat Aug 10 1991 00:4511
    Several years ago my father received literature from a family resort
    town in Austria which offered among many activities(hiking,swimming,
    tennis,etc.) RC SLOPE SOARING! The color brochure was certainly
    inviting, situated in a picturesque little Alpine town. The only
    drawback would be the incompatibility of the radio gear with European
    standards. I might be able to dig this brochure out to provide more
    details. I will look for it.

                                                   Regards,

                                                   Jim
