1338.0. "Visit Reno Air Race 1991." by STKAI2::NORDSTROM () Tue Jul 23 1991 09:28

I'm going to Reno and need help.

Hi R/C friends I'm living in Sweden and are now planning to
visit Reno Air Race and US for may first time.
So i have got some questions that i hope anyone "over there"
	can help me with.

I have been R/C modeller for more than 20 yers and I'm now 33,
i started with singel channel Futaba then i bought the first
Futaba four channels digital propotional radio in 1970 and are
today flying soaring sailplane, engine powered modells, and
competing in F3C helicopter, I'm selected for the WC in Australia
but our modell union are poor so we will not get any economic
support for our teams travel expense to participate this year.

	Back to Reno then.

Me and my R/C-frend Thomas vill be round Reno and Nevada for a
veek or so and then i think we will travel in California/Nevada area
for two more weeks, maybe we will visit air-museum, modellshops,
see the nature, take a beer and have a god time.

Where is't best to stay in Reno area and how ??
Hotel, Motel, Rent a House or ??
	Price ??

	Best car hire service ??
  	Price ??

	And so on....

I hope to hear from you and maybe see you there.

	Per Nordstrom CS Sweden.

	Bye.

    Per,

I'd suggest that you get in contact with a travel agent here in the
USA. If necessary I'll try anr round us a few in my area that could
    make the necessary arrangements.

You might also want to check out the MEIS::FLYING notes conference.
This is for full scale flying and there are people in that conference
that have been there before. There was even some recent discussion
    about it.

From the sounds of it though, rooms are going to be tough to come by
at this late date. I second the suggestion of getting a travel agent
    on it right away.

    cheers,
    jeff

I'm familiar with the Greatest Little City In The World. You are
visiting it at the busiest time, especially for the Air Races.

Do contact a travel agent for arrangements. The casinos will
provide much fun and merriment, and will allow you to spend all
the money you want! You can expect to have anything you're
willing to pay for, and at any time of the day or nite, no
exaggeration.

Let me know before you go, I'll send you the addresses of the
model shops (don't expect much, its small-town USA) and a tip or
two on the best buffet dinners in town.

The Reno RC club is located in the middle of the desert, but you
should be able to get directions from a hobby shop. It really is
an off-road adventure to get there, but the site is one of the
best in the west, if not the USA.

After Reno, visit a REAL hobby shop in California -- go to
Sheldon's in San Jose.
