1308.3 | Gamma kit in CXO | TINCUP::OSWALD | TANSTAAFL! | Thu Mar 28 1991 16:31 | 19 |
The Northrup Gamma seen in the last Masters tape was kitted here in Colorado Springs. Its a fiberglass kit and the quality is awesome. In fact on the tape I've seen the announcer makes a comment about how much credit the builder deserves. I've seen the kit - 99% of the detail is already there! (Unless of course the guy flying was the kit developer - he does deserve the credit) Anyway, Phlyin Phil of Eagles Nest Hobbies here in town built one on contract for a guy down in Texas. It was beautiful. Imron metallic aluminum paint job, Texaco markings, landing lites, all the access panels worked. An Airtronics Vision radio and a 12V toy car motor swinging a large scale prop. All in all about $2500 worth. And guess what the guy is doing with it? It hangs from the ceiling and is used as a fan! Heavy sigh, I wish I had that kind of money. He even left it sit at the shop for months after it was done before he got around to picking it up. If you're interested I'll try and get the name and address of the guy who produces the kits. 1308.4 | Try Colo. Springs | GRANMA::WFIGANIAK | YEAH..GET THE RED ONE | Wed May 08 1991 17:15 | 8 |
Long while back in Flying Models Mag. There was some guy in Colo. Springs putting out a Northrop Gamma. The called it Cordy's Flying Service. It was a huge scale ship. Glass fuse, rivet detail and what not. If I'm right it was done up in Texaco markings. In the last couple of months there was a small ad in RCM for the Gamma. There is also an old movie about the early air-mail service that had models of Gamma's in it. Sure is a good lookin bird. Good Luck. | |||||
