I came across a box in my basement which contained a gold and blue package labeled "The New 1953 Royal Baby .049" Use Spitzy Nitromic Glowfuel Only! Inside is an aluminum .049 engine in pretty good shape. I vaguely remember getting this as a gift from one of my paper route customers about 20 years ago. Can anyone identify this engine and comment on its collectablity/value? It has no throttle control, but does have a built in fuel tank a la COX. Pat

Pat, What you have there is a Royal Baby Spitfire .049 made, I think, by Andersen. To the best of my knowledge, the engine has no particular antique value (jillions of them were made). However, shades of nostalgia, it just happens that this was my VERY first gas engine and, if you're open to the idea, I wouldn't mind doin' you out of it for old times sake. What would it take to convince you to send the engine, box 'n all out here to Arizona. BTW, we'll haf'ta act fast as I'm just 4-days from leaving the company as of today. __ | | / |\ \|/ |______|__(o/--/ | \ | | 00 <| ~~~ ____ 04 ---- | -------------------- |_|_| (O>o |\)____/___|\_____|_/ Adios amigos, Al | \__(O_\_ | |___/ o (The Desert Rat) |
