This is the base note for distribution of Soartech manuals.
As such I will try to cover as many details about these manuals as possible
so that we can keep the note traffic down to a business level and avoid
too many questions and answers.
First let me quote from page 2 of Soartech 6
===============================================================================
"SOARTECH" is a NON-PROFIT English language journal which provides technical
information of the subject of Radio Controlled Soaring and Sailplanes. The
papers included have been provided freely by their authors, and they should
be used freely by others. COPYING and further use and publication of this
material is ENCOURAGED. Common courtesy indicates that where it is used in
other publications, the author and source be given credit. Technical papers
for future editions are requested. I invite you to correspond with me directly.

Now these manuals are not for light reading. If you don't have some
burning desire to know more about aerodynamics and soaring I suggest you
don't bother.
Also let me warn you that these are not free. Even tho we are allowed
to copy them - they are massive and if you decide you want a copy you
are obligating yourself to a long stand in front of a GOOD copy machine.
Figure on 2 to 3 hours of copying - without many jams!
Al Ryder was kind enough to purchase all the back issues and I cracked the
first deal with him. If he let me copy his I would give him back the originals
and 1 extra copy of each in return for the privilege.
Now I made 4 copies of each manual. One for Al. One for me. One for
somebody else and One as the new master.
So now there are only two types of people who will respond to this note.
Those who do not have access to a fancy copier and those who are willing
to spend a few hours in front of one for their benefit and for the benefit
of those who don't have access.
So reply to this note if you want the Soartech manuals. If you don't
have access to a copier say so. First on the list is Dan Miner.
I will send the masters to Dan. He will make two copies (minimum).
One for himself and 1 for the first noter who signs up to this note
that doesn't have copier access. Dan must be fare. If his best
friend signs up on this list and lives two cubes down the hall Dan still
has to make a copy for the guy who beat his best friend into this note.
First come first served.
Also Dan must guarantee fast turn around. We will never get these into the
hands of the troops if they get put in the hands of someone on vacation for
a week or someone who is not resourceful and can't either keep their copier
running or find another quick.
They are double sided and approximately 150 pages each. Collated and
stapled (except the master is not stapled).
There are presently 8 Soartech manuals. The eight one is copyrighted
and cannot be copied. You must order this from Herk Stokely at the address
above for $15 US and Canada and $20 overseas.
Frankly I don't recommend Soartech 8 anyhow and if you ask in advance Dan
Miner or Al Ryder can bring one to a DECRCM meeting and you can take a look
at it.
Now I will attempt with my blazing typing speed to generate an table of
contents for the 7 existing Soartech manuals

Ciao Kay: I would very much like to get a copy of this manual. If
someone could send me a copy I would appreciate it muchly. From Italy
the re-distribution would be a s l o w and expensive process so I
can't commit to much except to make a best effort.
Grazie e ciao, Ed

Next^2. If you can ship the masters to Chicago, I'll make a
midwest master. If you would rather send me a copy, I'll make it
the midwest master. Since I don't always have time to keep up on
the volume of this file, other RCers in the midwest please send me
VAXMAIL (once I get a copy myself of course).
Thanks, Kay.

Hi,
I would very much like to get a copy of these manuals. Is it possible
to get copies (a master?) in Europe ?

Well, I finally got around to copy Soartech volumes 1-7 last night.
(If you don't know what Soartech is, read note 1200.0)
It took me about an hour to make 3 copies. (FYI - I used a Kodak
model 225 copier and it seemed faster than the Xerox equivalent.)
I'm willing to make another 3 to 5 copies next week before I send on
the master.
FYI - to those of you that want a copy - the stack of volumes 1
through 7 is about 2 inches tall!!! Copying this much paper is not
a small task and as Kay has mentioned, you need a GOOD copier that
is capable of automatically doing double sided to double sided
copying.
