| Hi Bob,
I think the rules are pretty much standard. $10.00 entry fee
for the first car, and $7.00 for each additional car. Some people
race in more than one class. Most beginners are put into the stock
class. However, last year they did not have the stock class and
started with the super stock class. There are no rules concerning
body style. Run what you like. Engine size in the super stock class
is limited to a $28.00 (retail) motor. I could be a dollar or two
off here. Battery can only be 6 cell. Rear wings are allowed, but
no front wings. Motor bearings are NOT allowed. "IF" they check,
and see any signs of tampering with the motor case, they'll disqualify
you. That's about all the "rules" I can think of for the super stock
class.
You shouldn't worry about being a beginner. There are usually several
racing in super stock. Plus, it only takes the average person about
a half dozen races to be holding there own anyway. As I recall,
when they did have the stock (novice) class, they would only allow
you to run in that class 3 times before you had to move up to super
stock. At Roll-On America, at least, they try and keep everything
as fair as possible. They won't stand for unsportsman like conduct.
For instance forcing people into walls. Intentionally ramming someone,
etc. If you think something like that is going on, and call it to
their attention, they WILL watch that person and warn them if they
see it. It makes for very enjoyable racing, and when you take that
trophy home at the end of the night, you know it's because you drove
a good race and not because you happend to make it through all the
wrecks. Wrecks do happen, it's part of racing, but at least it's
not intentional.
One more thing on bodies. My suggestion would be to go with a full
(closed) body. Something like NASCAR style, etc. I currently have
an open, off road type body, and I WILL be changing before long.
Reason being is that I've had many occasions where I've come together,
side by side, with a closed style body and I get flipped because
the wheels are exposed, and he keeps on going.
Hope this helps.
Steve
