Has anyone used those little magnetic catches for securing fuel tank covers etc. What about possible problems with the Rx due to the magnetic field ? I am asking for trouble here ? Regards, Eric();

I have never used them but my concern would be whether it can hold up to vibration. Bob G. | |||||
1034.2 | Try the Dubro or Goldberg latches | CLOSUS::TAVARES | John -- Stay low, keep moving | Wed Jun 21 1989 18:29 | 13 |
I don't think there's any radio interference problem... I have the DUBRO 1/4 turn latch in the Tutor (no, it hasn't flown yet!). Its a lot easier to install than it looks, but it does need about an inch of vertical space between the top of the cover and the bottom of the latch. If you want the "pop-off" feature, there's also Goldberg's nylon latch. This latch has a kind of forked end that pops onto a small screw in the bulkhead being latched to. I've had trouble locating the screw exactly so the hatch will latch securely and not stick up above the surface. This has to be done in the early stages of construction so you can get in there and mark the place. |
