Does anyone have experience with the Dynaflight Texas TA6. Thinking
of this as my next project. Would welcome any comments.

    Thanks,

980.1Other AT6 kitsIDO725::MCKEEWe have the technology...Thu Apr 27 1989 15:5411

I am also considering an AT6 for a next project. So far the kits
I have found are Dynaflight, House of Balsa, and Great Planes. If
anyone has any experience with any of these kits, I would like to
	hear about it.

Also, how suitable is an AT6 for a first low wing plane?

    Jim,
I believe the Dynaflight kit is a foam wing sheeted with balsa.
Are the GP and HOB kits also?

    Thanks

The GP kit is fiberglass fuselage and foam wings. Dynaflite
is built-up fuse and foam wing. House of balsa is built-up
	wing and fuse.

From this standpoint the GP kit would be the quickest building
but is also the most expensive. The HOB looks like the least
scale looking. The Dynaflite looks good in the catalogs but a
friend that has built a Dynaflite kit (Piece O Cake) was not
impressed with the quality of the kit. Poor wood quality, die
cutting, etc. Is this typical of Dynaflite kits? I have built
two GP planes, PT-40 and Trainer 40, and I am spoiled by the
	quality and ease of construction.

    Jim,
I have built many models and also find the GP kits to be of
the best quality in wood and instructions. I guess that's where
I am leaning towards. I have never worked with a fiberglass fuse
    but what the heck!!

A friend of mine had the dyaflite - not a bad kit, and the wing
was foam. I don't think any of the Texans would make a good first
low wing flyer, though - they are not a real easy plane to fly.
In fact - they fellow that had this plane has flown for nearly
20+ years, and he wound up with a crash and burn. He spun the
pane from about 250 ft and was never able to recover. You can
fill in the rest. Dick said something about there not being enough
    vert stab surface...(?)

One of my favorite look'n planes - but not sure how she flies as
    a model.
